• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Suggestions for Future Versions 2010

Not sure if this has been asked before or not:

I think it would be so much easier when using a background image to just pick a reference point (i.e. runway end) and drag it to the matching spot in ADE. I believe a similar system is used in AFX (I don't have AFX, this is only hearsay.)

:)

You can do that in ADE

Yes, that would be a nice implementation if you can resizing/rotating the background image interactively using the mouse for dragging the corners, sizing the sides, as well as rotate it in real time.

toolbar

Hi, im a complete nubee, have started using your program, bit of a learning curve but getting the hang of it. Thanx for this gem.
My suggestion is to be abel to configure the toolbar add elements ect.

and or have a dockable floating toolbar, with buttons to add elements, eg. windsocks, roads, signs ect. ect.

Thanx again

Import function for parking positions????

Not sure if thas been asked for, but it would be nice to have an import function for Parking? In ADE there is the ability to export the list of parking positions to a CSV file.

I'm wondering if an import function could be developed so that you could update parking positions and the airline codes by manipulating the CSV file?

I know this somewhat counter-intuitive to the graphical UI provided by ADE, but when faced with rather large airports and large numbers of gates and parking positions, then updating the CSV file would come in really handy.

Just a thought....

Thx
Mark

Interesting idea. You are right that there is no import function of that type at the moment.

I'm a beginner...

Is there any way to open an airport using the ICAO or the name and have the program search through both stock and addons, presenting the choice and visualizing the level and path to the .blg? This in fact is the way you can load an airport in AFX which IMO is quite handy to see if there are different versions installed...?

Not currently. However the difference with ADE is that it uses its own project format and is not reliant on loading and saving from the bgl format.

Again IMO, ADE is a notch higher than AFX under many respects: for a beginner like me finding the direct search option in the panel 'Open Airport' in AFX is very nice, so you don't have to figure out where all the relevant files are. I would really appreciate in ADE an unified <Open...> panel where you can choose from a list of all Stock Airports, search for addons, open AD2, import .bgl; in AFX you have such panel: if you type an ICAO code in the search field, you will get in a separate field a list of the relevant .bgl (here you may add AD2 as well, hopefully) starting with the active one in black, and all the rest will be ghosted (so as to say they are not active in FSX, but you can load them as well)...

OK good points. I will add it to the development list.

Hi,
Flatten for FS2004 would be great. I am struggling with SBuilder now but it would be great if the FS9 area could be flattened for new airports directly in ADE, the same way as could be done in FSX.
Mainly - MANY tanks for a great program. More I use ADE, more I like it.
Have all Merry Christmas and great! New Year.

That is certainly on the list :)

Not sure if it was already mentioned

Lately I'm involved in the convoluted water polys exclusions at MRJP (Costa Rica) where you have half of the runaway sitting on water: I've read it's quite a labor to put solid ground where there is water as you have to use many different polys, both excludes and land classes layered one on top of the other, so I came up with an idea about a function that would become handy as <Copy & Paste> entire polygons or any other item needed and just change its function; just select the item, right click as copy and paste it on top or wherever you left click. I'm not sure it's feasible, but it will help a lot.
Another relevant help would come if you have a list of layers where you can select and eventually hide the object/poly/etc (instead of the View menu) or change their order by dragging them as you have i.e. in Photoshop's layers, so to have an easier access to all items in the project and have them visually and correctly layered...

Copy and paste works for some things now - I guess it does not work for terrain polys.

ADE 2 has 100 layers and the user can control which layer an object is located in

Hello scruffyduck, and thanks again for answering and for this excellent program!
I'm not much of an expert using it anyway: I'm just a beginner!
I'll check out the copy/paste options, but I haven't as yet used it on anything: is on the right click or becomes active in the Edit Menu? I'm not on the PC at the moment, so I can't verify it. My idea was about when you have to draw a detailed poly with many vertex and use it again for different purposes such as to define land class, exclusion, airport background and so on...
About the layers, I wasn't aware of them too: would it be useful to have a separate panel that can visually let you see them, eventually rearrange, duplicate, flag and make them visible/invisible (that is how you operate in Photoshop)...:wizard:
