• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi Alan.

The file "Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect.dll" ( version 10.0.60905.0 )should have been installed into the GAC when FSX was installed.

Mine is stored at "C:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_32\Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect\10.0.60905.0__31bf3856ad364e35"

To view the GAC folders from windows Explorer follow this advice:

Because your system does not have this file in the GAC, I assume you did not first have Net2.0 installed BEFORE you installed FSX. To fix, you may need to uninstall FSX, and then reinstall it ( now that Net 2.0 is already installed ).

Hi Dick,

The SDK contains a redistributable version of SimConnect here :
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\lib

Maybe you should include it with your tool and make people reinstall it after the .Net framework to be sure...

Cheers,

Hi Arnaud.

I can't redistribute anything from the SDK's as they are for Deluxe FSX owners only! The SDKs ( and their tools ) are not for public distribution. :(

It would have certainly been better if the FSX installation also installed NET 2.0. What's a few hundred more Mbytes these days.

Perhaps I'll get Simconnect to work with Delphi, and then I won't need .NET at all.

Hi Dick,

Perhaps I'll get Simconnect to work with Delphi, and then I won't need .NET at all.

MCDU (authors of FSInn & FSCopilot) have written an ActiveX to access
SimConnect from any language (Delphi for example), see MCDU forum.

I have lost two full-time days (and nights) to try to run SimConnect from
Delphi 7. I always get a FALSE from the SimConnect.Open function ...
I am turning crazy !

If you get SimConnect running from Delphi, would you be so kind to give
me some help ? I would greatly appreciate ! I am desesperate.

A+
