• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Salt Lake City International Airport KSLC *In Development*

U42 is the ICAO for Salt Lake Municipal Airport #2, which is a mid-size reliever airport located to the south of KSLC. It has two helicopter flight schools, a fixed wing school, a couple FBOs, and a very busy Army National Guard installation, from which there is a nearly constant stream of AH-64 Apaches and UH-60 Blackhawks going in and out. And by constant, I mean it. I lived a couple miles from there for 15 years. Seems like I saw or heard one of the above helos about every single day in that time! There's also a Piper J-3 that is used to drag a sign about the valley for advertising purposes, a Stearman Kaydet with the Commemerative Airforce, a derelict de Havilland Vampire fighter plane on the ramp, and a couple Rutan designs. I've seen Ercoupes, DC-3s, and a number of other various vagrants passing through. My favorite was the Eclipse 500, which really is a beautiful plane inside and out...

Thanks for the work on KSLC! Eagerly awaiting this one!

I Cant thank you guys enough for actually making an KSLC, as the rest of the community seems to agree that a well modeled KSLC is definitely needed. I just hope all my research I posted before was sufficient to help make this as good as it can get.

BTW on behalf of Delta Virtual Airlines pilots out there, THANK YOU.

+1!! SLC is in MUCH need of a good payware scenery! And Delta Virtual Airlines pilots are going to be all over it when it's released. THANKS!

as a Delta Virtual Airline Pilot and SLC lover i just can say:

I WILL BUY IT EVEN IF YOU WANT 200$ for it!!!

btw: you already talked with Aerosoft about AES or AESlight on your Airport?

Oh ok, nice, so we have already a price :)

you already talked with Aerosoft about AES or AESlight on your Airport?

No until now we did not speak to anyone, as we first want to have it ready at about >70%. As the airport is located in the US, we wanted to make it compatible to 100% with FSDT GSX. About Aerosoft I think yes, we will do it compatible with AES, but about AESLight, I have no clue as for this we had a few thoughts but nothing 100% sure, so we cannot give you a "yes" or "no" to this answer.

BTW: Take a look here where we will post progress and where we will try to answer your question(s).

again, I am honored to have helped you guys decide on your next project and even more so to see how many people have been waiting for this. The early work is already beating Imaginesim and is on par with FS DreamTeam! I am serious, you guys at Aviasim are on par with the best scenery developers in the world, well done!

Actually, U42 would be a nice project in it's own right. It has a nice National Guard Helicopter base and is quite a busy GA airport in the real world. Would be nice to see it incorporated into your KSLC scenery along with the Intermountain Health Care Medical Center in Murray (a nice place to land Augusta air ambulances).
Good luck on your venture. I guess my friend Gary Widup and I are going to have to get busy with some new freeware after all of these years.

The problem with the health care center is it uses the code UT11 or U11(dont remember which), which is also used by the Kastler Compressor station in northeaster Utah in flightsim.

Is this airport under cursed?. Any projects regarding this airport are holded.

We holded this one because the real world refurbishment actually began January of this year.

We want to release accurate and up to date sceneries for our airports, we simply can not do this with KSLC because by the time we release ours, there would be a rather large update due to compensate for the real world changes, then big updates again and agai and again until the real world refurbishment is complete, and by this time all the updates we would release, would actually be a whole new scenery from first release.

We are trying to get as much information as possible as to what the new KSLC will look like, when we are happy, we can start again on this airport and make it as it will be when it is finished, so it would be like a futuristic rendition, present rendition and so on

Sad on hearing the hold, meanwhile, it would probably be done in a more aesthetic and factual way. That's all developers know, to carry out the commitment of providing happiness and the sensation of reality to our dearest consumers.

Airports are always changing and unless you live there and can see it every single day to make a comparison you can't make a perfect replica of an airport. What I suggest is continue to build the basics, it will take years to complete the project in the real world so just go for what you got and put some construction vehix around. Unless you are looking for a current real world shot of the airport at this present time?

I'm curious why you don't see this as a potential business opportunity.

Make the field as it currently stands or is projected to look 12 months out. Then, offer an expansion for $XX later when the airport has changed again.

Some simmers will groan but you essentially will provide a new revenue source with a significant portion of the project already done, (runways, certain taxiways, hangars, etc.).

Real world changes take years to occur, there is not one fs developer payware or freeware that can replicate a fully accurate and up to date airport.

..... then big updates again and agai and again until the real world refurbishment is complete, and by this time all the updates we would release, would actually be a whole new scenery from first release.

Your making more work for yourself. I think what the FS community wants is somewhere to land at, sure the airport is being redone but lets take it for what its worth and bless the community with a SLC scenery for the first time in FS history. I'm sure they will not gripe and moan that the new terminal is not present.

I have to agree here. Unless the updates are ski large that complete new term ail buildings are being made, I'd say to just continue with the current state of KSLC, and if necessary, bring out an update later on. First and foremost I want a good KSLC to land at, next we'll see how outdated it is. However, whether it's outdated or not is certainly not show stopper for me. So many outdated airports that I still use...
