• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

This new version is in the process of being distributed. It should be available shortly via the on-line updater shortly. This version contains some new and modified features as well as a number of bug fixes:

New
A comments object is now available that can be added to the project. These could be used to identify specific areas in need of work for example. Comments are listed in the Helpers List

Updated
ADE now uses base data files to avoid over writing user modified data and settings

Drawing of guide line end bars is now user controlled.

Tool tip will now show object comments where present

The Add Generic Building list now remembers the last building added. This is not persisted between sessions.

Improved drag performance of taxi nodes. Nodes should now be more responsive to dragging at the cost of a slight reduction in the quality of animation of surfaces. (This is somewhat experimental)

It should no longer be possible to change a taxi link to type RUNWAY unless both ends of the link are on the same runway. If such a link is changed to type RUNWAY the properties are now correctly set to include the runway details

The methods used to create and add new links should now be improved and copying of properties from an existing to a new link have also been updated.

It is now possible to set default values for each type of taxi link. Without the ProKey this is limited to Surface and Width. Users with the ProKey can also set marking and lighting defaults.

Fixed
Problems which can arise if a file fails to load. These include being able to access menu items that should only be available when a project is properly loaded.

CTD caused apron edge lights value is less than the minimum allowed in the property dialog

Links should no longer be drawn off center. This happened when a node was inserted into an existing link.

Bug where undoing a newly added taxi link left the edge markings drawn in the display. This bug has been present since before version 1.47

Taxi links with marking on one side should no longer suppress junction markings

Improved code to stop CTD when user tries to open airport properties and there is no valid project loaded

ADE should no longer draw node surfaces where all connecting links do not show a surface (apron and parking types)

Documentation
New and modified features are documented in pdf file in the manuals folder.

Oh fix?

"The Add Generic Building list now remembers the last building added. This is not persisted between sessions."

Thanks Jon,
this now works fine and is the same as adding Library Objects

Here's a new one for me:

It did fix it, but it would be interesting to know how it could lose a node.

After the update the program can´t Load ... see the picture View attachment 17370

I am getting a number of reports of this - it does not seem to be universal. Can you please send me the log file - that is the file called log.tx1 - this will be in the folder inside the ADE main folder that matches the version you are starting ADE for. These messages unfortunately do not give me enough information to find the problem but the logs should.

Thanks

@George

I don't know why either. I re-wrote all the drawing code for the taxi network and tested it with a lot of airports and project files but that did not come up in my tests.

@ray

You are welcome. I hope that the new Taxiway default settings system helps with vehicle path widths as well :)

I have found the problem that is stopping ADE starting for some users. This will happen for users who use the comma as a decimal separator. I have pulled the update for now. I think the fix is likely to be simple but it will take a little time - I hope to get it fixed for tomorrow. Apologies to those users experiencing the problem but if you would change your number settings temporarily to the UK or US then ADE should work. Once the fix is done then you will be able to change the number settings back.

"I hope that the new Taxiway default settings system helps with vehicle path widths as well"

yes Jon, vehicle path widths are fine now :)
not tested other taxiways yet as i'm eating my lunch then i have to mow the lawns

Hopefully the problem for folks using comma decimal separators is now fixed. For those folks who have the problem there are two ways to get the new update.

  • Change your number settings temporarily to UK or US. ADE should now start. The update will be delivered via the on-line updater (1.61.5210). Once installed change your number settings back to your own country and ADE should now start and run properly
  • There is a manual updater that can be used to install the latest version. You can get it here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/an4oehfg9afdbj4 Please reasd the help notes before trying to use this. For preference please use the on;line updater however

There seems to be a problem drawing links which are connected to the runway centre-line. ADE displays an edge-line. This link has no centre or edge lines but it is shown on the grid:

(It is not displayed in FSX)

Thanks George - I will look at that.

George - I can't replicate that at the moment. The 'rule' that should apply to links started from a runway link is that they are drawn using the default settings for that link type. That appears to be happening for me......................

Added another link:

In fact the link was created with a centre-line (?) but not an edge line. The pic was taked after unchecking the centre-line.

Can you send me the project file please George? Do you have Auto Set Link Surfaces checked? This looks like a junction surface is being drawn since the edge is coming from that. From the angles on your screenshot I would expect the surface of the junction to be coming from the runway link and also any markings. However edge markings should be forced off for a runway link

I just replicated this by changing a runway link to TAXI; setting edge markings; and setting the link back to RUNWAY. So can you check if the runway link has edge markings set?

First Jon thanks for the up-date.
I have a minor thing, when i draw a vehicle link in ADE it shows always a Dashed edge line ,when i change this to Solid or Non it stay a Dashed line in ADE.
In the properties screen it showing correct and in FSX it shows the correct lines.
