• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Airport Design Editor Version 1.61.5210

First Jon thanks for the up-date.
I have a minor thing, when i draw a vehicle link in ADE it shows always a Dashed edge line ,when i change this to Solid or Non it stay a Dashed line in ADE.
In the properties screen it showing correct and in FSX it shows the correct lines.

Jan

Thanks Jan - that looks like a bug. I will add it to my list :)

I just replicated this by changing a runway link to TAXI; setting edge markings; and setting the link back to RUNWAY. So can you check if the runway link has edge markings set?
Runway links don't have markings.

I don't have "Auto set link surfaces" set.

Project attached, just add an apron path link to the centre-line.

The runway properties for the runway links show solid for each edge. That is what the apron link is picking up. Not sure how they would have gotten a SOLID setting since those properties are not editable from the property grid.

Given that runway links should not have markings I need to force those off. I guess FSX will ignore the values since they are not relevant but ADE is not that bright at the moment.

Next version will force off any markings for runway links.

Jon,

while on the subject of vehicle paths, can we have ADE not draw a center line (path) when connecting to a vehicle?

Ray - you have a ProKey so you can set the default for a vehicle link to not draw a center line. The only property it will pick up from other link types when started from them is surface. It will pick up a center line if it connects to a vehicle link that has one - are you saying you never want the center line to be inherited from an existing vehicle link? Not sure I understand that but if you are drawing from an existing path and don't want center lines then turn the center line off for the vehicle link you are joining to.

Jon,
i've just this minute got the latest update (v1.60)and for some unknown reason i now don't get the center-line for the vehicle path when i connect to a vehicle!!!! i did yesterday, but still get one for an aircraft spot which is correct..........
perhaps because I'm still using 3 different versions to do my airport updates i was probably on a different version,
sorry for the confusion i get confused easily..........
never seen where i can set the default vehicle path link to not draw a center line, only when i bring up the properties

It should not matter which way the vehicle parking spot link line is drawn since there should never be a center line but ADE does not know the difference between a vehicle parking spot vs a airplane parking spot.

Please read the notes on the new system for setting defaults for taxi links. I have made a separate post on it since it seems to be causing a lot of confusion

I can't find that either Ray

I always draw to the vehicle parking spot so the center line will not draw. If you draw away from the vehicle parking spot the center line shows.

Oh please read the new notes guys! You can set the default vehicle path properties to whatever you like including markings and lighting.

Or am I completely missing the point of the conversation?

Jon

ADE does not know the difference between a vehicle fuel truck parking spot and a airplane parking spot. This is where the confusion exist.

In this picture I have the Vehicle Parking Spot (fuel truck) center line set to False. The problem is, that set the Airplane parking spot to False also. Airplane parking spot path lines are normally drawn where as the Vehicle fuel truck parking spot path lines are not drawn.

Thank you Jim,
i thought i was losing my mind, you get 2 different results when connecting a vehicle to it's path, that's why i thought I'd lost the plot yesterday............

Jon,
it has nothing to do with the actual vehicle path, it's when you connect a vehicle to it, as Jim said from the vehicle path to the vehicle is ok, it's when i go from the vehicle to anywhere on a vehicle path you get a center line
if you change the setting to "False" you then lose the aircraft spot center line as well, as Jim showed.........

The other issue is the width in feet for the parking spot link. When set to 25 ft for the vehicle (fuel truck) parking spot that becomes global for all parking spots. The stock EGLL Airplane uses 80 feet. The stock KATL uses many different sizes from 40 up to 100 ft.

All FSX stock vehicle (fuel truck) parking spot links are 25 ft.

ADE no longer saves any Guide Lines or Markers. Once I save the .ad3, close ADE and reopen, all my Guides and markers are gone.

Are you sure you haven't set them off in the View menu? They are saved and restored here. What happens when you select "Lists ->Helpers?

Ray/Jim I am travelling now - once I get back to the UK I can look at this Parking Spot/vehicle path issue

Jim - Guide lines and markers save and load just fine

Jon

ADE says Solid, FSX shows Solid but the ADE grid shows Dash. This is a vehicle link line but the issue is for all link lines.

I am aware of the issue with ADE not drawing solid for vehicle lines - thanks for confirming it Jim

comments are awesome, but I think they should be added to the View list. Also, not sure how I feel about the single-line text box but we'll see how much commenting I need to actually do with my comments (as will others) to determine whether a multi-line box would be a better thing.

Comments are listed in the Helpers view list Drew. Do you mean they should have their own list?
