• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 xbox vs steam in fs2020

Xbox or Steam? What are you talking about here? Xbox hardware vs PC hardware? Because you don't need Steam to run MSFS on PC. If it's Xbox hardware vs PC then PC wins easily because the only way you can add 3rd party add-ons to Xbox hardware is through the MSFS Marketplace.

MSFS20 Can someone explain how to create Exterior Sound when a window or door is opened?

Yeah I don't think you can do it the easy way by modifying the sound.xml. I don't think there is any way to change the output bus in the sound.xml which is what you need to do. When you create the events in Wwise you assign it to either be an INSIDE or OUTSIDE sound. And the camera view (if...

Thanks but that shouldn't be necessary. I've got a subscription to the AirCorps Library and it's got more manuals than you could possibly imagine. Not to mention the complete engineering drawings.

MSFS20 Add custom wwise event to an Asobo template, if possible

It looks like from the template that ENG ANTI ICE is the parameter to use. But you may need to add an Index="1" parameter. https://docs.flightsimulator.com/html/Content_Configuration/Sounds/Sound_Examples.htm?rhhlterm=wwisedata%3D&rhsearch=wwisedata Make sure your addition is inside the...

MSFS20 Add custom wwise event to an Asobo template, if possible

I don't see in the template where WWISE_EVENT is used. As far as I can see the parameter it accepts is WWISE_PREFIX and even then I don't see it used anywhere. Adding an entry to sound.xml is, I have found, the easiest way to add sounds. Add it to the SimVarSounds area. Here are a couple of...

MSFS20 Can someone explain how to create Exterior Sound when a window or door is opened?

Are we using Wwise? In the combustion section you add extra exterior combustion sounds (combustion_outside_mix in the example), send then to interior output bus and then use a custom RTPC to control the voice volume using a local variable. You can then set the local variable in your code to...

Msfs gltf not showing up in addons menu

You are using this extension? https://github.com/AsoboStudio/Microsoft-Flight-Simulator-2020-glTF-Blender-IO?tab=readme-ov-file#how-to-install-the-asobo-blender-msfs2020-importerexporter-using-blender If so it should look like this once installed. I have circled the important bits. I'm not...

Looking for Kirigamine Glider Airfield (spoiler: it's not in MSFS 2020).

The gauge glass is filthy. Probably need to clean it a bit before release.

MSFS20 How to make normal maps using Affinity Photo

Because I managed to confuse myself here is how to correctly set up the Live Lighting. It's important to have 3 separate lights which use Red, Blue and Green and various Azimuth and Elevations to get the correct lighting. For the red light, Azimuth 0 and Elevation 30 For the Green light...

MSFS20 How to make normal maps using Affinity Photo

There is a tutorial on how to do this on the Affinity forums using the Live Lighting adjustment. There is an asset which you can download from this link: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/137255-normal-map-generator/ There is also a youtube video showing the process: But, I...

    NIGHT LIGHTING

Isn't there a light map (emissive) texture? It should have the same base name as the texture but might have a suffix like _LM or _EM or _EMIS (which is the MSFS standard). The emissive texture is added to the base texture at night. It should be mostly black (so the fuselage doesn't light up)...

    MSFS20 North American T-28 Trojan

Adding in the tablet and GPS. This is the kind of view you see 95% of the time when building aircraft. Weird angles and half the parts missing so you can see what you are doing. I need to keep the canopy visible to make sure the GPS doesn't pass through it even though it's a pain to work around.
