• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS Starting Out, Curious About Working in Python or With a Light Game Engine

I am one of the contributors to Python-SimConnect. It's a pretty versatile library that abstracts away a lot of the pain of dealing with the simulator itself. If you're comfortable in Python there's no need to use C/C++. A few example projects using SimConnect: https://findmyplane.live/...

    Crew Manager: Passenger boarding demo

Hello everyone, here's a quick video demo of how Crew Manager deals with passenger boarding. It shows off the crew interaction tool, including its natural language processing, and the bespoke seat map. Needless to say passengers board in class order! Discord: https://discord.gg/NqPEKnWCF8...

A steep learning curve - simconnect to webserver

Find My Plane has a totally open api (https://findmyplane.live/api) so any client that can send http requests can use it to track a plane. At the moment the only clients set up to send link with MSFS but I would be delighted if someone would add functionality for other sims.

    SimConnect network protocol

Replying late to this. I have built something designed just for this called Find My Plane. There is a small client which runs on a local machine and uses SimConnect to get sim data from the sim. This is coded in Python and is very simple, utilising the Python-SimConnect library. It then sends...

MSFS Find My Plane open API

By way of introduction I'm quite new to this forum, but looking forward to getting involved. I am a contributor to the Python-SimConnect library and the developer of MSFS2020 Cockpit Companion. I posted earlier in the general forum about my new project called Find My Plane, but I thought I...

A steep learning curve - simconnect to webserver

Hello! Given my code was referenced above I thought I’d reply. The code referenced above runs a flask/python web server on the local machine to display and edit sim variables and trigger events using the Python wrapper for SimConnect. A closer example of what you’re looking for would be my...

.PLN files are annoying, so I wrote a script to make them easier

As you know, MSFS 2020 uses .PLN files to plan routes. They’re pretty annoying because: They use XML. Is this 1999? They display latitude and longitude in a format which is pretty difficult to do anything with. I wrote a simple script in Python to do a few things: Read an PLN file into a...

MSFS MSFS2020 Cockpit Companion - an http interface for SimConnect

Find it annoying to click around in the cockpit trying to set the autopilot heading when you’re supposed to be flying the plane? Want to use your laptop or iPad to display secondary instruments so you can soak in all that photo realistic scenery? Struggling to fly over your house because...
