• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Carb heat has no effect on RPM - UPDATE: Found it! Had do use 'Gravity' as fuel metering type

Is there a way to make carb heat cause an RPM drop? In the default planes (C152, DR400...) I saw this behaviour, but I have no idea how to make this happen in my plane. Are there engine parameters that need to be set to get this?

MSFS20 Trouble setting up weight & balance (forward and backward limits)

My plane tips backward if I set my weight and balance so that the center of gravity falls in between forward and backward limits. I think the main problem is the position of the wing and the MAC, causing the forward and rear limits to be drawn incorrectly in the aircraft weight & balance config...

MSFS20 Documentation on translations/localizations of custom strings?

Does anybody know if there is any documentation out there about how to localize strings that are used in custom made aircraft? I tried to put them in the main folder (.locPak files, aside the SimObjects folder) and tried to reference them in my checklists. However, without any success...

MSFS20 Localizer needle animation not centered - SOLVED (my mistake)

Ok, nevermind... human error 🤦‍♂️ Apparently I already had the CDI code somewhere in my model but I've forgotten about it... So it was in there twice... No wonder it was acting strange

MSFS20 Localizer needle animation not centered - SOLVED (my mistake)

Hi! I'm having issues getting CDI to work correctly for a plane I'm building. It's the localizer needle that is giving me a headache... I'm using standard Asobo templates (similar to the one on the Cessna 152). The model XML looks like this: <Component ID="INSTRUMENTS_CDI">...

MSFS20 Cylinder head temperature and exhaust gas temperature for each cylinder?

Hi Ron, Where did you find that variable? I don't see it in the variables list in the MSFS SDK Documentation...

MSFS20 Cylinder head temperature and exhaust gas temperature for each cylinder?

Ok, thanks for all the replies! I'll start fiddling around then :)

MSFS20 Cylinder head temperature and exhaust gas temperature for each cylinder?

Is there a way to get the CHT and EGT for earch cylinder separately in MSFS?

MSFS20 What SDK engine parameters affect manifold pressure?

Hmmm... That's really strange: I have to set the MAP ranges up to like 5000 to get readings that come somewhere near the real-world values... (while the units stated in the configurator are inHg) And if I do so, the engine's RPM goes waaaay up, like a 1000rpm too high. Must be some other params...

MSFS20 What SDK engine parameters affect manifold pressure?

Tx for the quick reply, @Anthony31! The engine is indeed turbocharged and I already indicated it as such in the sim. So does you mean I have to set the max and min design MP to 29.92?

MSFS20 What SDK engine parameters affect manifold pressure?

I'm trying to model an engine and although I'm getting close to the real thing, the manifold pressure reading is too low. I'm reading values from about 4.0 inHg up to about 18 inHg. The engine I'm modeling should read something in between 25 (1400 RPM) and 42 (6400 PRM). What are parameters...

    Dual bus avionics - How??

Hi @Anthony31, thanks for the quick reply! I figured out just now that I had indeed referenced a wrong bus in the xml file.

    Dual bus avionics - How??

Is there anyone who can help me with an issue I have with multiple Avionics circuits? I have 2 separate avionics circuits which can be activated with 2 separate switches. I have my model set-up (different node id's for the switches and different animation names - triple checked this). I...

MSFS20 html gauge tutorial and samples

Hey @Anthony31, Thanks for this tutorial! It made it all a lot clearer to me. Would you know prehaps, how you can define where such a gauge is getting its electrical power from? I have coded an EDM900, but I couldn't figure out yet how to tell to MSFS: "Hey, this is an EDM900 and it is...

Engine only starts with auto start

Oooh... I'm sorry! I added the MSFS tag, but maybe not in the correct way 🙊 I'm new to this forum (at least as a poster, that is). I'll make sure next time I do it the correct way :)
