• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    MSFS20 SimObject and Wav file

I have not yet attempted to process variables with MSFS SimObjects, but I have an interest in eventually using legacy FS WAV sound file sets via the XML sub-system as an alternative to the Wwise over-kill complex methods. Google says this...

Glad that worked for you. 😀 Have fun... PS: Many thanks to Arno for all his hard work with MCX. GaryGB

MCX 180 CTD on windows 11.

Hi again: Obviously I'm not Arno. But, as he is ~ 5 hours ahead of your time zone and likely still at work, I'll bet you would like to get something done on your Friday. Here's the forum announcements about MCX version 1.8 and 1.9...

    ADE 1.78 Question

Hi Tom: Your info is correct, of course. :) I was not 'yet' inclined to explain that- and alphanumeric naming- until I knew more about the OP's FSX level of comprehension. I was anticipating we might find out what FSX scenery library Area layer folder chain the OP was placing his scenery in...

    P3D v4 P3Dv4 - fx_lightObswhiteSteady.fx missing

Hi again: I just stumbled across this info that refreshed my memory on the simplicity of a few basic controls provided for light Fx by MCX Attached Object Editor. https://www.scenerydesign.org/2013/05/blinking-lights/ "If you enter a blink duration of 0 seconds you get a static light" GaryGB

    ADE 1.78 Question

Are you placing them with the FSX 'Scenery Complexity' slider set so that they are forced to show at all times ? FSX Menu > Settings > Custom > {Scenery} tab > Scenery Objects > Scenery Complexity: Extremely Dense Also, be aware that some airport scenery will have ExclusionRectangles on the...

    ADE 1.78 Question

Please explain more clearly what it is that you are attempting to do. * Are you wanting to place objects in scenery from default FSX-SE airports that have "Geo-locked" 3D models ? If so, you may have to first remove those 3D models from the XML code that "Geo-locked" them. Don Grovestine...

    MSFS24 SimPropContainers

While studying MSFS 2024 SDK Docs on SimPropContainers last night, (1) of multiple linked sub-topics in the docs was this: https://docs.flightsimulator.com/msfs2024/html/2_DevMode/Scenery_Editor/Objects/Light_Objects.htm "LIGHT OBJECTS A Light object is an object element that is used to add...

    P3D v4 P3Dv4 - fx_lightObswhiteSteady.fx missing

Hi again: Just checked: There is no file by that 'exact' name in my MSFS, P3Dv4, or FSX folder chains. There are, however, Fx files that suggest it is derived from a few 'flashing' versions in my MSFS, P3Dv4, or FSX folder chains: fx_lightObsWhiteFlash40Hi.fx fx_lightObsWhiteFlash40Med.fx...

    P3D v4 P3Dv4 - fx_lightObswhiteSteady.fx missing

That may be a edited default Fx; I will scan my main FS computer later to verify if that exists in my P3Dv4\Effects folder chain. Google says this...

MSFS24 2024 LOD system is horrible, how to get models to stay sharp for a reasonable distance using MCX lod creator

I'll present the case of a classic object for FS 3D modelers that is comparable to airport terminals, even when made with limited triangles: A very large FS scenery object that 'could' be made either as a 1-piece 3D model or a SimPropContainer. Boeing Everett Production Facility - 9801 27th...

MSFS20 Possible to remove a certain area from a 3rd party photogrammetry area?

Are you referring to building positioning ? If so, do the MSFS default Generic buildings appear rotated and shifted out of alignment relative to a custom reference aerial image or vector graphic you are using ? :scratchch GaryGB

MSFS20 Possible to remove a certain area from a 3rd party photogrammetry area?

OK, ENAX does not yet have default MSFS photogrammetry in either MSFS 2020 or 2024, so one falls back to MSFS Generic Buildings. They do not look all that bad to someone not familiar with the location; but admittedly Google "faux-Photogrammetry" looks better at "in-flight-altifudes". I am...

MSFS20 Possible to remove a certain area from a 3rd party photogrammetry area?

Does MSFS 2024 have default Asobo photogrammetry in the vicinity of the hospital ? If so, that can be excluded with nearly unlimited granularity of control as it uses TIN geometry rather than 305.8 Meter span, multiple ModelPart 3D models. ...Firing up MSFS 2024 right now to test ENAX with-...

MSFS20 Possible to remove a certain area from a 3rd party photogrammetry area?

Hi Vetle: I reviewed my data from testing exclusion of selected ModelParts in 3D G-Poly tile array GEDOT scenery library objects with ExclusionRectangles. I tested placing ExclusionRectangles at calculated Geographic coordinates of selected ModelParts, but I cannot find my results showing it...

MSFS20 MCX Placement To Shape Converter missing

Thanks, Tom. :) I was advocating a workflow for Vetle @ Nordscape that seeks to avoid editing and copying scenery library object BGLs by use of excludes. But your suggestion is a practical alternative (of last resort ?) since I do not yet see a way to avoid changing a scenery library object...

MSFS20 MCX Placement To Shape Converter missing

IIUC, these objects have their own BoundingBoxes and are "placed" at Datum offsets in a multi-part array 3D model via Cartesian coordinates. AFAIK, an Exclusion Rectangle should work on ModelParts with their own BoundingBoxes and CrashBoxes via Geographic coordinates. Can MCX export...

MSFS20 MCX Placement To Shape Converter missing

I used a term "Scene" based on an inference these multi-object 3D G-Polys are a type of "Combined Scene" as described in MCX; Manual: "7.4 Scene builder wizard With the scene builder wizard, see Figure 7.4, you can construct one single object based on a scenery with multiple objects and object...

MSFS20 MCX Placement To Shape Converter missing

Hi Arno, and thanks for following up on this. The goal is to make it easier to exclude 3D G-Poly 'scene' objects (and selected ModelParts of such multi-part objects). As numbered scenery library objects displayed in MCX preview, they can more simply be excluded if we ID the Origin / Datum /...

MSFS20 Possible to remove a certain area from a 3rd party photogrammetry area?

Indeed; it would be helpful for MCX to accommodate generation of a data set from the ModelPart ID / selection process in Hierarchy Editor. We'll see if Arno may find it feasible to add that functionality. If not (...or if not in the near future), we will need to work from SHP and XML...
