• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    I had to redo the ground model for my scenery (yet again. It's a long story) and am having a totally bizarre problem with it. First off, I can't seem to get it to render anything on top of the ADE runways. I've tinkered with the z-bias settings to no avail, messing with the texture settings...

    You can also use Google Earth's 3D building feature to do this by comparing the altitude of the mouse on the ground at the base of the building to the altitude of it at the roof. It isn't perfect (a lot of their 3D scans have a low resolution), and the altitude is only shown in integer meters...

    Huh, somehow I hadn't thought of trying that. For some reason I thought it could be done by placing new flattens on top of the existing one, each set to a lower elevation, but I suppose that explains why this method never worked. I'll give your recommendation a try.

    I would think that the cost of this will just be passed on to the consumer by most developers. So...looks like nothing changes for me because I have no money to spend on that stuff anyway, but everyone else, however...meh, I don't see this being good for the community no matter how you slice it.

It isn't anything mind-blowing, but after a few tweaks to the config file and messing around with the Nvidia control panel, P3D can hold 30 FPS with maxed out scenery, lighting, and weather settings, while sitting on the ground...
