• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi all

When creating a 2d panel what should the
Bitmap size be.

The monitor I am using is 19 inch with a native res of 1440 x 900 and the screen dimensions are 445mm x 385mm.

Cheers

Rhys

I don't usually come though this section, so it's a very late response. If the panel is just for you then build it to your screen's pixel sixe. If it's for release, then create it to a 16:9 ratio (at least 1920 x 1080) as this is the most common ratio in use. Anyone that has a 16:10 screen like yourself will barely notice the difference. If you know someone with a 16:9 screen ratio you could build it to your screen's native 16:10 and ask them to check for any obvious out-of-round instruments.

When I was creating 2D panels, I would create three bit maps, one for the old monitors, one for 16:10 screens, and one for 16:9 screens. The required three different panel. CFG files. It was certainly a hassle, but I didn’t have a better way to handle the different screen shapes. I have both 16:9 and 16:10 screens and I could tell the difference.

And I agree That creating the panel bit map using your screen resolution would be the logical approach.

Hi

Thank you for the response. The panel is a one off just for me. Sound like creating a the panel and setting it to screen resolution is the way to go. The current panel is 400 x 253 mm

Cheers
