• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

FSX 3 MCX Export Questions

Question 1) Are you aware of "programs" like Malwarebytes or Spybot interfering with MCX? I have lost the ability to Export from MCX to FSX. Even though all seems to save properly looking at my attachment. Do I need to reinstall MCX to correct this?

Question 2) Every time I reopen a bgl file to add a new nightmap or make scale change, I have to reenter "all" textures shown in the Material Editor Nightmaps. Am I doing something wrong in saving the file? Was hoping I could reopen and see previous saved file nightmaps and scale and so forth.

Question 3) I create a file named test.bgl using FSDS dated 9/12/2012 9:30 AM. Open MCX and modify by adding new nightmap texture. Save file using same name and export. File information shows created in 9/12/2012 9:30 AM.
File Modified 9/12/2012 1:38 PM. Today, import test.bgl and add another new nightmap and save and export on 9/13/2012 2:47 PM.
But new modification date and time not updated. Am I saving wrong? Drop down window in MCX Material Editor shows: test.bgl FS BGL Object (*.BGL)
Appreciate you time and help

For #1 and #3, have you looked at the Error Log tab in the lower left corner after attempting the export? If there are errors listed, post them here.

I checked the Event Log as you suggested. No errors mentioned. At least that is positive.
I feel as well as this program is designed, I must not have a option command set correctly - or something.
Just do not know where or what.

Today I tried the Wizard>Convert and Place object wizard. Press convert button. Went to error log. Could not get all the errors on one page.
Does this help?
Thank you in advance

Hi,

It seems something went wrong while exporting the file.

Which version of ModelConverterX are you using? You might want to try the latest development release. If that does not help, please send me the file so I can debug the tool.

File sent to your email address. Using version 1.3.0.0.
Forgot to mention file is joined together in FSDS.
Thank you for the help

Hi,

Thanks, got the email. I'll check if I can reproduce the export problem.

Arno, I am fixing to send you a new file. I renamed my original MCX install and reinstalled mcx last night. Going to send results email. Looked a lot better in error log - but still having trouble with export. Please disregard previous email.

Hi,

ModelConverterX 1.3 can indeed not export the object correctly, there is an error. So that would explain why the night textures are not kept correctly. But with the latest development release (version 1.4) that problem is gone. Have you tried with that version already?

No Sir, I have not tried the newer version. Will try to find it now.
Is it in the Download section?

Many Thanks for a already great program..

Yes, the link is in the downloads section. Or check the sticky thread in this forum with download information.

I got the new 1.4 version. Definitely helped with the problem on my project.
But another problem came up. Notice the missing table and doors in FSX. Yet they are visible in MCX and FSDS.
Any idea on this? Everything else okay.

Are these doors a different texture or are they part of the same texture as the rest of the building.

I think Arno is asking if they are textured on a separate texture sheet from the other parts of the building?

I get things so mixed up. Appreciate you helping me understand. I do not use a texture sheet. I am using the bmp file in scenery folder.
Does that make sense?

Not really. Textures are in the texture folder, not in the scenery folder. So if your bmp is in the scenery folder FS will not find it for sure.
