FSXA 3DS Import and Export Error

Hi

There seems to be a but of an error with the 3DS Max import / Export routine.

It seems to export correctly but when I try to import the .3DS file into Max 2017 - I get an improper format error. This happens with the .3DS and the .3DS(old) formats.

It used to work so don't quite know what's happened

Anything different in this model? For example special characters in the texture names or so?

Debugging such import errors is very hard because gmax and 3ds max don't tell you what's wrong.

HI

Can you revert it back to the code you had it before you split it into 3ds and 3ds(old)? At least that worked.

The old is the code from before. So that one should still work then.

Just this object or any object fails?

That's weird. Anything special in these objects? For example I have heard that empty LODs can give trouble.

I have some objects that cause this problem. I find that if I load the 3DS file MCX creates BACK into MCX and export the 3DS file again, it sometimes works. Sometimes.
