• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX 3DS Max MDL

Please read in SDK that they support 3dsmax 2015 or not. I don't know either.

So which 3ds max are you using and you have tested already? and who is the best one according to you?

http://prntscr.com/7pt902 there is an image of my error. No guidtoname set something like this..So i dont know how will you understand the text and look carrefully at it becouse it is transparency becouse i cant find my log file ..
Before you try to export your Max2015 project, you must use the "Aces Tools" menu, "LOD and Export Tool" to "Create" a unique GUID number and "Friendly Name." Once done, save your project, then do the export...

By the way, you really do need to read the clear instructions in the SDK. ;)

Tekica123, I feel like you aren't using the resources supplied by this site. Perhaps its because evolution has produced changes to tools and users aren't aware of how the various tools translate...so let me help. Installing the sdk is a topic well covered in the wiki on this site. It may not cover the P3D sdk, and this is where you have to trust. Trust that as things evolved, they didn't really change much. So learn the background on how to install and SDK. Had you done that before, you wouldn't have thought you had the sdk installed, because you would KNOW that without an ACES tool dropdown, it went wrong.

Furthermore, read the sdk on how to do an export. Bill was kind by bothering to teach you about GUID, but that is all lessons available for you to learn all by yourself. Its all in the SDK. Read first, ask questions second.

Finally, the P3D, it took over when Microsoft abandoned FSX. Its confusing a bit, but lots have been written on this site about how to manage the various tools. You have to have the recent version of SDK v2 to use with max 2015. However you also need to know what sim you are developing for. the tool set will vary. See this thread: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/prepar3d-sdk-used-in-fsx.431893/

Your units error might be worth noting, I always use meters as my max units. Perhaps your model as it exported is SOOOOOO big or SOOOOOOOO small, that MCX can't display it?

@n4gix i made it but i get an error on exporting the project...http://prntscr.com/7px68v so now the MDL is with bytes, now is 2 bytes but when i put it into MCX there is nothing like before..
Oh my! Again trying to run before learning to crawl.

You absolutely MUST read the instructions in the SDK. The error message is quite clear. You have not set up the unit scale correctly. Again, a picture is worth a thousand words...

Customize/Units Setup/System Unit Setup
Note in the right window that the System Unit Scale is set to "1 Unit = 1.0 Meters".
This is set once and never touched again!

This is absolutely essential, since this is the scale used by FSX and P3D.

In the left box "Units Setup" you can choose the "modeling units" or in simpler words, specify what "1 Unit" is equal to. You can choose Metric (meters, cm, etc.) or US Standard (Feet & Fractional, Decimal Feet, etc.).

Fixed but still nothing in modelconverterx...

For a 11 kB X file, a 2 kB MDL file doesn't seem small. So maybe there's just little in the scene at the moment.

Are there any messages in the event log of MCX? It seems you are using the old version 1.3 for example, which doesn't support the P3D MDL format that you create when using the P3D XtoMdl. So that might be your problem.
