• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi

1 - I opened an airport but i would like to know which folder and file it belongs to in the FSX scenery folder. How can i do it?

2 - How can i change the altitude of the runways to feet instead of meters? I tried in the program options but there is nothing there to choose.

Thanks.

Use SDE

1. Using SDE you'll get the correct folder.

2. What's for?

1 - I was talking about ADE... But where can i get SDE?

2 - When i edit the runway in ADE the altitude shows in meters. I want it to show in feet. I see in the program options there is an option to change the units , but it doesn't work.

Thanks.

You do not need SDE. To be able to select an airport you need to do the following:

in the options dialog select folders and then use the buttons to set first the folder in which FSX BglComp.exe is and second set the main folder location of your FSX installation.

Save those.

In the file menu select Open Stock Airport. Then you will need to load the airport data - you only need to do this one. Click Scan and after a minute or two you will see a tree of all the stock airports by Country, City and so on. Find the one you want and double click the airport - this will load it into ADE. Alternatively if you enter the ICAO ID in the box and click Find ICAO you will get the matching airport listed below. Double click that and it will open for you. When you save it with ADE it will get saved as a Bgl file in the ADE work folder

This will not tell you which folder it is in in FSX but I wonder why you would want to know that once you have it extracted using the program?

ADE is a beta product - the function to change units of measure etc is not currently active - it should be in the next build or the one after that.

Hi Jon

Thanks for your answer. I did all that but when i go to "save user airport" i get this error:

ScruffyDuck Scenery Design Engine Compiling
Using FSX BglComp....

INTERNAL COMPILER ERROR: #C1003: Failed to create MSXML object! (0x80040154)

Parsing document: C:\Documents and Settings\Alvega\Ambiente de trabalho\Cenários\ADE\work\SPRF_AFX_ ADE.xml

INTERNAL COMPILER ERROR: #C2430: Unrecoverable error parsing XML!
INTERNAL COMPILER ERROR: #C2006: Parse failed (0x80004005)
INTERNAL COMPILER ERROR: #C2003: Failed to process file: C:\Documents and Settings\Alvega\Ambiente de trabalho\Cenários\ADE\work\SPRF_AFX_ ADE.xml

I thought it had something to do with a corrupt installation of MSXML4.dll and installed it again, but still same error.
Thanks for your help.

I have just loaded that airport here in ADE and it compiles fine.

I would make a careful check that you have the latest version of FSX BglComp.exe and FSX Bglcomp.xsd in the folder that ADE is using for BglComp. The version of BglComp from the SDK SP1a is 10.0.61.355.0 dated May 10th, 2007 at 22:05 and Bglcomp.xsd is dated Jan 25th, 2007 at 23:16

Yes, those are the file versions i have in the Environment Kit\BGL Compiler folder of the FSX SDK. I chose that folder in ADE in the settings, options, folders, FSX BGLcomp menu.

OK then it must be something else. I saw that you have the same problem with FSX Planner so it must be related to BglComp in some way. I am sorry that OI do not understand this

C:\Programas\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\BGL Compiler SDK\San Rafael SPRF.BGL (O sistema não conseguiu localizar o ficheiro especificado)

But that could be a clue

I found the solution. Uninstalled and reinstalled MSXML and now it compiled without error. Thanks alot for your help. I'm gonna check how my new airport looks like. :)

OK good that it is fixed, and good luck with your airport
