• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

A landed plane on a platform doesn't follow it when the platform begins to move.

Hello everybody, I want my plane to follow a platform when the plane has landed on that platform which then begins to move. It's the case for an aircraft carrier, but in my project it's a gondola like in transporter bridges.

For the plaform (a simple cube to begin with), I choosed collision material on and road material on, but the plane stays at the same place when the gondola moves, and then falls from it...

How can I fix (or glue 😁) my plane (A volocopter in my case) to the moving platform ??? What are the properties of an aircraft carrier's deck, for example ?

Hope I'm not confused !

Paul

Asobo will have to change the way the sim is programmed. There's nothing we can do to change it.

You can have a moving solid platform. No plane will act normally on it.

The carriers in MSFS that act normally are all static objects. I have made a moving carrier, but it has the same problem as your model so I told people the limitations and released it anyway.

Thank you Superspud for your quick answer. I had the same problem with FSX and P3D. Hoped MSFS would solved that... Would you inform me if they introduce something after your suggest ?
Anyway, thanks !

I think the expectation is that the Top Gun DLC in May will change the programming to have a moving carrier which should also cure your problem.

But I'm not convinced the carrier will move. I certainly hope it will.

I didn't know the other sims had the same problem.

FSX and P3D are able to simulate basic carrier operations. Notice the wakes.

Hello.

It's was possible to land on a moving platform in FsX. I did it for a mission in helicopter. The moving object was a AI ship.
Have you tried to make you moving platform inside a SimObject (static) with platform animated to create the movement ?

Hi,

Indeed under FSX and P3D it was possible : the FREMM (force 5) available on my site since Sept 2013 (signature below).

From memory, the platform was
- modified to allow the landing of helicopters,
- animated via roll and pitch
- and the rest of the boat was attached to this platform (childrens of the platform).

By playing with two different models and different roll-pitch values, one could have an easy or very difficult boat depending on the sea power assigned to it.

This "boat" was created as an AI object usable in a trafic.

I never succeeded in but now I hope MSFS will give me some hope...
