• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

AB_ExcludeAutoGen not working

I tried a few of the Ab_... polys and none of them have done what i have wanted. i want to exclude the autogen and not alter the terrain. i tried one which worked perfectly but altered the terrain and made it all weird so i cant use it. i tried AB_ExcludeAutoGen which i got suggested to my by somebody here to use to get rid of autogen for a custom airport i made so that you can actually use it without hitting trees. i have just tried this Ab_ExcludeAutoGen twice and it doesnt get rid of any trees or autogen as far as i know, but luckily it does not alter the terrain either. so why is this AB_ExcludeAutoGen not exlcude autogen for me?

i want something to exlcude autogen and to leave the terrain exactly how it is.

thanks

SBX will allow you to save your project, which will normally be saved in the \SBX\Tools\Work folder as something like Myproject.SBP. If you place this in a ZIP file and attach it to a posting here I, or someone else can take a look at what you're attempting to do.

Compiled and went to the location and there's no autogen present. SBX is doing what it's suppose to.

If you're looking from the top down and viewing what appears to be trees and bushes realize this is based upon the texture. Slew around the spot and there should not be any trees or buildings sitting on the ground. If you want to change the texture that's a different process in SBX.

I think the problem is at my end, because i tried the exact scenery i uploaded for you but it didnt work, there was still trees and autogen on the ground at the airfield. There i one thing i think that might be making the difference but im not sure, i have the airport runways etc made in FSXPlanner and im running that at the same time as the exclude autogen from SBX,and with that FSXPlanner scenery i have included an airport elevation BGL because i had changed the airfield height and was recommended by FSXPlanner. would this have any effect on the SBX scenery or not?

Here is a file with all of the scenery components in it that i am running for NZFF. It includes NZFF.BGL-the runways and main scenery, NZFF airport elevation BGl(recommended by FSXPlanner) and the NZFF.SBP file from SBX.

Thanks

Now that I have the airport... If you don't make the polygon large enough to encompass the airport area, then autogen will show through. Is your airport suppose to be crossing four roads or is it suppose to be further away from the roads? SBX allows you to link to FSX and display the airplane's position, this will assist in polygon placement, as right now your exclusion polygon for autogen does not encompass the entire area for the runways.

okay, cause the runways are all the same as real life and im sure the exclude is covering all the runways in the google image, but it is messed up at the specific area Forest Field is at. So i need to make sure the exclude covers all of the runways and it will delete the autogen like i want it too?

Correct - if you are using an airport background to flatten the area and exclude autogen then it needs to cover the total area that you want autogen removed from

I placed my aircraft in FSX at the end of all the runways and then looked at it in SBX and i checked that the exclude poly covered them all and it turns out it didn't, so i changed it and now it works fine!

Thanks for your help guys :D
