• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v4 Addon lincenses

Hello, I had the intention of uploading an addon that I made to github, but I came across the question of: What license do you want to use? https://choosealicense.com/

The first thing is... is an addon considered a software or is it data?

For non-software licenses https://choosealicense.com/non-software/ it indicates the use of creative commons, which on the one hand I prefer because there is one that is Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International. https://creativecommons.org/choose/?lang=en

For software licenses Which one fits best in a scenery addon?

Would a custom one be valid? Type conditions of use?

The mere fact of making an addon would breach the Microsoft or Lockheed Martin license?

Thank you!

Freeware or payware? If this is a freeware addon scenery and you own or have permission to use all objects in the scenery, then no license is required. If payware, you need to talk to each vendor of the objects you are using and the programs you used to create them (and create the airport itself).

Freeware, but it is not the first time I see how sceneries are redistributed or intended to be charged for them without being the authors.
If not license is required, I think that a note in conditions of use is enough.

P.S: It's not that I'm going to avoid it technically or legally, but at least it's known.
