• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

This is available from the usual link: https://www.mediafire.com/file/i6xk38ghqjomykp/ade_current_dev.zip/file

As previously please use this to update your existing 1.79 installation. Do not create a new clean installation unless this is the first time you are installing 1.79, In case of a new installation please do not import settings from any existing version.

This version:
  • Slope properties will appear in Lists and the Tooltip provided the airport is set for sloping
  • Scenery objects and taxi signs now display whether they are stock - that is are placements of objects based on stock files - or not. This appears in the relevant List views and also in the tool tip. Given the increased importance in handling stock data from v5 this is the first stage of improvements as to how ADE loads, unloads or excludes stock object placements
  • The area that ADE load stock data from has been reduced. This is an airport bounding radius which previously covered a larger area. This should reduce the number of extraneous stock objects appearing in a project. As per the item above the plan is to provide the creation of user defined areas for the loading, unloading and exclusion of stock object placements
  • The bug that caused a compiler error when loading certain approaches has been fixed. There is an additional approach type of TACAN
This is an example of LM getting carried away placing stock items around an airport (VABB). I am sure there will be others

how can you change the radius?? is this why there is only like a 2000 foot circle around my airport marker in my v4 airports now?
circle.PNG

The radius is calculated based on the airport elements. It has always been that way except in this version the airport bounding radius is shown rather than the test radius which is used by the compiler. So yes that is why the circle looks smaller. There is no user control over the size of the radius (never has been) but we are planning to introduce this so users can determine over what area they want to has stock data loaded.

that looks like a bug. Can you attach the project file to a post here so that I can check it?

I don't understand where the smallish red circle in your screenshot is coming from When I load that project file I get this

1588069614936.png

The bounding box is more or less around the outside of the airport. In any case you can't turn it off at the moment but that will be available in a future version

i just loaded it up and measured them approximately.. my circle is about 2000 feet, yours is about 6200 feet... a factor of 3.26.. very close to feet/meter.. a conversion error?

Could be - let me check

EDIT

Yep that is it - thanks for your help. I will fix it and also make an option for the user to hide it

Should be fixed

Can't compile YSSY (P3Dv4 + SDK selected) because of Internal Compiler Error. Any solution?

It looks like you have set up a sloped P3D v5 airport and are trying to compile it with a P3D v4 compiler

OK - somehow the sloped flag has gotten through into the XML for v4

1588090785621.png

Is it possible that this flag was set somehow - was the project file loaded up in ADE for V5 or the slope indicator changed in the Raw Data View? This suggests that at some point the project was created or saved in v5

1588090947270.png

since it shows the FS Version as P35 and the sloped flag set a False. If this is the case then it may not be compatible with v4 any longer

Interesting, with an old 1.79 I had the same issue. With the last version it was ok, I could compile and do everything. With this version I have the problem again.

Well, I will see if I can fix it but the condition is that the slope flag gets into the xml if the version is P34. It might need a code update to the program

Thanks, will be nice. I reload the airport from the xml and saved it again. I got a new project file without slope.

Hey, no clue if this is a bug or just something not added yet: When working on a sloped Airport each new taxinode is always at altitude 0. It would be great if you draw taxipaths/taxiways that the last altitude will be used on the new node automatically.
