• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 ADE 2020 Alpha 17 Released

I am referring to the editing of Painted Red Mandatory Hold Position surface markings, they are the red boxes with the runway numbers at the hold short position to a runway at FAR 139 Airports. KLGB has one that says Runway 12-30 in an approach surface to runway 26L, its just wrong..

I also want to add some on another runway where they are missing?
I found you can select the Hold bars with the Red Painted signs, and copy it into intersections that are missing them!!! So if anyone needs the red ones in blank taixways coming to runways, thats a work around.

Would be cool to have a tool for that, since there is a name for it, and it functions

@scruffyduck - I am trying to work on the Birmingham Alabama (KBHM) airport. If you go there in MSFS you will see that the Military area has a pink colored area that doesn't exist in real life. The texture is the same as other concrete areas so changing the texture has no affect on the tint. After the airport is compiled and copied to the Community folder the area becomes a purple color. The only option that I seem to have is to completely redraw it, which is a painful and time consuming process. Other areas have the same tint, though not as pronounced. Is there some attribute that needs to be changed that you haven't implemented yet?

what is the area? an apron?

Have you tried changing the coloration values?

Found it by placing a comment and then searching the Raw Data for the comment. Changed as you indicated and now it shows as normal concrete. Thanks.

Decimal point character?
Possibly. There are four properties in the dialog that have min/max constraints
  • Altitude -1000 > +25000
  • Magvar -180 > +180
  • Traffic Scalar 0 > 1
  • Test Radius 0 . 100000
My guess would be the MagVar at the moment. I need to check the code around it. Also I need to replicate it

@muffo - please provide one or more airport Idents that have generated this problem.

OK I confirmed with loading LIDF that the magvar is appearing as 358 degrees and that is outside -180>+180. I need to check how the airport is loaded from stock into ADE

Found and fixed. There is an issue with the schema type that allows values between -360 and +360 for magvar.

Hi,
I'm trying to create an airport from an old AFX file but it seems the taxisigns are lost during the import.
Application 20.17.7723.27631
Engine 20.00.7723.26598
Is it a limitation or something goes wrong ?

Not sure - some items are stripped from old files. Can you attach the file to a post here so that I can take a look

I see a pull down to add runway, I don’t see one for add taxiway.
The taxiways at the Airport I am working on seem different, like jigsaw puzzle pieces connected together.

In P3D, I could grab them and bend them around, and readjust the pavement, it seems to just change the centerlines, but does not grab pavement.

Can I just delete the puzzle piece taxiways that come together, and build a new one somewhow?

Yea, I used to use your other version on Lockheed Martin P3D, I just converted all the taxiways to the correct names, and signs in MSFS 2020 but now need to do some geometry changes, as old runways were changed to taxiways at Long Beach Airport, KLGB.

I can’t seem to get it to do the same as in editing P3D

well ADE 2020 worked the same way to add and edit taxiways so I am not sure what you are looking for
