• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

ADE has encountered a problem

and needs to close.

I have added an ILS to my runway and it worked fine, but I need now to make some changes and wish to delete the ILS, but every time I select delete object [i.e the ILS] I get the above message.
I can delete the glide slope but not the localiser.
I have used the default settings.

Help

Regards
Richard.

Richard I need to see the ade_200802.log file to understand the error. Also be aware that you cannot delete a stock ILS (one that is in FSX by default) completely. you can remove the DME and Glide slope but not the localizer. Although in this case it sounds like you are adding a new ILS

Can you email me the log please?

Hi Jon, I have added the ILS to my fictiuos airport and am not deleting from a stock airport.

Forgive me where to I find the log?

Richard.

OK Jon, have found it.
It is attached [I hope]

OK I have found the log but cannot upload it as it says it is an invalid file!!!!!

Got it - I will look at it tomorrow

Jon

I see no problems with ADE Home if a ILS is added and then removed. This is with opening a saved .ade or opening airport after a compile with the command to open the bgl instead of the the .ade

If the added user Localizer is deleted first it also deletes all 3 components (which it should) that make up the ILS. You can also delete each component as a single unit and then delete the Localizer last.

I am sure Richard's log will yield the problem he is seeing that I cannot duplicate.

My test airport is a FSX default airport. I know Richard has been working with a completely new airport in some cases which could be a possible problem if the log shows something that we need to test further.

Derrick did beta test adding a new runway to an exsiting airport and a new ILS but don't know if he saw any problems in his original tutorial work.

At the moment I can't replicate it either, however the log is certainly showing the cause of the error. There do seem to be some issues around user defined ILS that I need to look at. Richard please email me the .ade file that is causing the problem

Jon

The issues may be for just a new airport and new runway. I will test by adding a new airport/runway and ILS to see if there is something there that we never fully tested.

I have added an ILS at another fictious airport I have done and there are no problems with that one.
However when I added this one [the one that Ican't delete] I wanted to delete it and try again because it wasn't working.
I'm not very knowledable about these things but what was happening was when I was bringing an aircraft [C172] in on approach the centre line needle was working and lining the aircraft up but the height needle was down, showing to high, and remained there and the aircraft would not descend and continue flying over the airfield.
Hope this makes sense.

I am replicating the error with the file you sent me Richard so there is a problem with the way ADE is handling that particular ILS. I need to put it into the development environment now to see what exactly is going on.

OK I have looked at this and the problem seems to relate to the adding and removing of GS and/or DME via the property dialog. I am working on the problem now.

There is a very simple fix if you want to get rid of the ILS. Compile the airport and then load it back into ADE by opening that Bgl file. The ILS will now be clean and you should be able to delete it without problems.
