• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA ADE Newbie Problems

Hi,

I am new to ADEx, a couple of problems in my first airport:
1. ALSF2 working properly with 30 strobes, but 7 SALS strobes fail to display.
2. ILS is displayed in the map but not working (ILS with DME,108.50Mhz, glideslope 3.0, range 30NM, beamwidth 5.2), Glideslope near the start of the runway, localizer at the end of the runway.
3. No taxi path specified by ATC when taxing to runway, but when taxi to gate, the path(yellow arrows) can be displayed.
4.I have to lower the radius of gate to allow the tow car away from the terminal, is that approach correct?

Any solutions and suggestions?

Thanks

Hi (Ni hao?),

Re1: Sorry, do not know.
Re 2: Do you have an approach frequency added to the airport?
Re3: specified or shown?
Re 4: correct, I think.

2: this airport only have one frequency to handle everything, I still need to add Approach frequency?
3: When at the gate, the taxi route is not specified , ATC just say taxi to runway 35. But when landed, ATC is able to say taxi to gate 1 using taxiway C. Did I mess up with the directions? (Image is posted up there)

Hi and welcome from me too.

As I can see from your screenshot you chose 'Dashed' for the right edge of the taxiway along the apron.

Please be aware that this leads to visually pretty unrealistic results:

Look at my screenshot. FSX unfortunately doesn' t just draw a straight dashed line along the TWY (which would be realistic and can be seen on many airports) but pulls the dashed line in a form of the letter 'U' towards the parking position. The same happens to the taxilights if selected.

Good luck and stay tuned!

One more thing:

If you want to see a straight dashed line along your taxiway simply draw a 'Closed Link' (see red line in the first screenshot, suggested width 5m) and select 'Dashed' either for the left or the right edge.

I assume the route to the runway is different from the route from the runway. The route to the runway is probably not labeled (Taxiway is Blank), but on the way from the runway to the parking spot the plane travels on Taxiway C.

You don't have to have an approach frequency if you don't want to. More likely, you have another ILS nearby with the same frequency and it is confusing FS. An old default ILS that has been orphaned or similar can still cause such problems. Try another frequency for the ILS.

Besides this, do you know where to look for if I want to create VOR/DME and NDBDME approach, any tutorial for that?

Thanks

Hi,

1. ALSF2 working properly with 30 strobes, but 7 SALS strobes fail to display.

SSALS configuration doesnt have RAIL(runway alignment indicator lights)(flashers or rabbit lights\ not incl REIL)

It is just a light bar config with bars 200 ft apart and total 1200 ft from Rwy end lights/thresh.

For just SALS, its a shortened ALSF-1

this pdf is a USCG military cheatsheet but very useful.

SALS will not display the strobes you have added (7) until the airport becomes IMC.

Another way to say it, SALS approach lights will come on at dark without strobes if the weather is clear (Airport VMC). If you have defined a number of strobes and want them to activate set your weather to 3 mile visibility (day or night).

If you want SALS strobes all the time (VMC and IMC) then use the SSALS Approach Lights with strobes added.

FS follows the same rules that we see on the Jeppesen approach chart (per the FAA) that tells us how strobes are used when the runway has SALS or SSALS lighting.
