• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

ADE Sim Version Detection

How does ADE go about detecting which sims are installed? I have 3 versions of ADE installed currently:

ADE 175 (Stable) - Sees FSX, P3Dv3, & P3Dv4
ADE 179.7417 (Dev) - Sees FSX & P3Dv4.
ADE 179.7475 (Dev) - Sees FSX & P3Dv4.

I would like to move to the latest dev release, however P3Dv3 (which is still installed and unchanged) doesn't show up. I was also curious if I could add the P3Dv5 SDK without needing to have P3Dv5 itself installed?

I think I had this issue years back, but I cant remember the solution, nor can I find a post on it. I may have just reinstalled the clients, but I can't remember..

This is ADE version dependant

1.75 is old and not supported. It supports P3Dv3 and v4 but not v5
1.79 is the latest. Support for P3Dv3 is dropped in this version and replaced by v5

So you are seeing the versions that are on your computer and that ADE supports. I would have to check the code as to when support for v3 was dropped since I no longer have it on my computer. You generally need to have the Flight Sim version installed before ADE will work properly with it

If you want to continue with P3D v3 then you can't use 1.79. If you want to work with P3D v5 then you need 1.79. If you want v3, and v5 then you need to versions of ADE installed
