• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

ADE v1.79 Dev fails to store some "stock" p3dv5 airports

I am pleased it is working. I can't say but it does look like file size. The Project files are not that big compared to some I see but here is the list of airports we tested and size appears to matter

I can't see why a 200k file would fail to save on a Windows 64 bit machine and 60k is very small but your failed loads to seem to be the top three in this list

Just saved KPDX and that is the biggest.

VABB is the largest I know full of odd buildings and with a save size of 588k. I have no problem in saving it

Hi Jon,
I did run the update but for some reason the files are not updating. Working on it.
Thanks,
Gerald

i had this problem with v5 KPDX, but it was a couple versions ago.. it wouldnt save.. it was also having a problem compiling because of the -4 approach thing.. after i deleted the -4 approach and compiled successfully, the save project actually worked fine

I am glad its working as well...and I am now putting everything back to the original SSD.
But Jon, if you look back thru your forum, search on KDFW. You and I struggled with this very same issue during P3Dv4.2 time (12/18). I had a number of static aircraft that bumped the size of the
AD4 up and when I deleted them from the AD4 and put them in an "add-on" lib. I had no more failures of "Save" or "Save As" for KDFW. I played around with this a great deal and there was a clip level I found that if I stayed under it (and please, dont ask me what that was...the mind is shot), all was good. Once you exceeded a certain size, ADE said it saved it, but it did not. Just an FYI from the past.
Thanks again for hanging in here on this. I think (please correct me if I am wrong) that when you reduced the diameter of the red circle, this was the solution? Could not have been the "-4" as I dont think KDFW has a "-4" type at the time.

I have implemented an extra Error Check in the Save process which might offer some insight. It will be in the next update. Saving is done as a zip archive. Actual project sizes are larger but compressed when saved.

The -4 error is a red herring. LM added a new approach type with a ID or -4. ADE did not recognize it hence the error. This fixed - the new approach type is TACAN

Reducing the airport bounds radius reduces the number of stock objects loaded. It is still a blunt tool and now leaves out some sections of some airports. Best solution is a bounding area that mimics the airport shape but that will be a bit of time

All good now, fresh 7422 install. Had a SSD firmware update pushed out to me last week and it reset all the read only permissions, which may have contributed.
