• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

This version is now available via the online updater. It is a critical update that removes the automatic update checking and replaces it with a user controlled reminder system. I have had to release this quickly since with the growth of ADE users over the years these checks are now impacting my server services and I need to reduce requests on it so that I am able to stay within my agreed limits.

Please note that if you are running a version of ADE older than the current 1.75 production series then you will continue to generate automatic requests to the server each time you run ADE. Unless you have good reasons to avoid the current version then please consider updating to 1.75 to reduce the request load further

Is it sufficient to run the software one last time and accept the update, or do you perhaps have a way to update that does not call the server?
 
Thanks Rick but there is no problem with running the update Rick. I have some grace to ensure folks can get it easily. If it does become an issue then I will make a manual patch available.
 
All good. I used to read this forum for years, until I finally got the courage to make my first post, probably could have waited another 6 months, I know - but, I always think of the silent horde whenever I do post here. Since it was something I was uncertain about, I thought it might help to put it out there.
 
During the update I got a W10 popup saying that ADE had stopped working. However, the update did complete.

I still get "Unable to find the effects folder:

 
Thanks for your hard work to give us such a great develloping tool as ADE. I realize how easy we often use the product, not realizing how many hours of hard working are in it.

I installed the most recent version today.

1. Now, as well in fullwindow as in smaller size window view, the right side of the userinterface drops outside the program border (see screenshot). Thanks for your hard working to give us such a great develloping tool as ADE. The area where one normally connect with FSX, is not reachable now.

2. I do not know if this has something to do with the new version, but I created a new airport, filling in coördinates and other basic data.
Now I seem to be unable to add a runway. Adding a R vector, I keep getting a Taxipath instead of a runway. But possibly I do something wrong.
Can you help me here?

You need to draw a runway centre-line on a runway surface. If you stray off the runway, you will get a taxipath.

I did this more times before, but sorry, I do not remember anymore: how does one create a new runway surface again?
By the way, do you also have the strange partially fallen away ADE window at the newest version? (screenshot in my primary post)

Reading this thread, I started ADE. Was notified about a critical update, which I accepted. Got an error message, then notification that the update was successfully completed.
Am now getting the same screen than Bram... I am using a standard 19" monitor, not a widescreen (5/4 ratio I guess)...
Any advice?
 
I will check but I am not aware of a change in the screen size. It may be different if you have been using an old version. The ADE main window is 1232 x 519 so you need a monitor resolution better than that.

The error message is well known and comes from the third party update software. It does not affect the actual update as you have found
 
Jon, thank you for the quick feed-back. Resolution of my monitor is presently 1280 x 1024, Speccy reporting further a work resolution of 1280 x 994

I was uptodate (v 176) before today's critical update application. Furthermore, changing my monitor resolution, or playing with the window size (reducing size, full size, etc...), still missing the right side of the application screen...
 
Just for checking,
* installed again v175 full installer, importing settings from my v176 -> program window display fitting inside my monitor
* shut down ADE 175
* restarted ADE 175 program, got notification about critical update, clicked on the update button -> once updated, display misfit again
 
screen.jpgI have also updated to the latest from the previous version and getting the right side extending off the screen. My resolution is set at 1440X900 so should be OK but isn't! Screen has been fine up until this latest update
 
OK - we did make some changes to the main window - basically removed some controls that were no longer needed. If 1.75 without the update is fitting the screen and the latest update isn't then I must have messed up somewhere. If you have this problem can you temporarily set the screen resolution to the highest you have and see if that does display the whole thing? I need to figure out what went wrong :(
 
Duh - I gave the wrong numbers. I just checked and it is showing as 1548/769. I can probably reduce it. Not sure how it has changed though
 
OK - I have fixed it. I will try and provide an update shortly.
 
Thank you Jon. I can not go above 1280 x 1024 so far with my NVidia driver. It reports this resolution as the native one...
