• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but we still have problems.

Here is my Texture_Def file:

gp_PatternedLines_TRG|40F|80F|False
gp_PatternedLines_40F|0F|40F|False
gp_ParkingDes|0|0|false
gp_Patterns|0|0|false
gp_LineBase|20F|20F|true
gp_Asphalt-dark|20F|20F|true
gp_Asphalt-light|20F|20F|false
gp_Asphalt-medium|20F|20F|true
gp_Concrete|20F|20F|true
gp_Dirt|20F|20F|false
gp_Gravel|20F|20F|false
gp_Red_20F|20F|20F|true
gp_White_20F|20F|20F|true
gp_Yellow_20F|20F|20F|true
gp_CrossHatch_Red|20F|20F|false
gp_CrossHatch_White|20F|20F|false
gp_CrossHatch_Yellow|20F|20F|false
gp_Signs_Red|0|0|false
gp_Signs_White|0|0|false
gp_Signs_Yellow|0F|0F|False
gp_CC_oakland|400F|100F|False
gp_CC_J_Line_white|80F|20F|False
gp_PatternedLines_Copy|80F|40F|False
gp_CC_daggett|400F|100F|False

All 24 of my current textures are listed.

When I bring up the GP Texture Editor, all is correct. All listed, none have No Def, and all are numbered correctly.

I then create a new GP polygon in ADE, and it pops up the GP Editor. I use the drop down box and see this:

attachment.php

As you can see, the last entry (daggett) is listed as No Def, even though it is in the Def file (same problem as the Texture Editor?).

Note that my Def file entries are being used, however - 400 and 100 feet.

Then I adjust the vertices so the DAGGETT name will be displayed:

attachment.php

Then as I click the OK button this screen flashes by. I can also get this screen by going to another Windows program and then coming back to ADE:

attachment.php

When I edit the polygon, I first get this screen - note that it is listing dagget without the No Def. No texture is visible (because it's still listed as No Def in the listing):

attachment.php

Finally, when I reselect the available daggett No Def from the list, I get this screen - I have no idea what's going on here:

attachment.php

Sorry,

Not surprised. It's a copy of the same code segment. Now fixed

Aren't you at least a little bit sorry you asked for this. (It seemed so simple at the time.):(

The other issues are a little more interesting. All will be fixed, but perhaps not this afternoon.

Don

Tom, I'm having trouble trying to duplicate the stretched-texture-on-close problem. Would you please check whether the same occurs when using a texture higher up in the list (i.e., the "NoDef" issue is taken away). Also, I note the Drag button is active. Does it make any difference if this button is not active?

Don

I spoke too soon ;)

I had created a polygon using a custom texture:

Before editing:

In the editor, there is no texture displayed:

Reselect texture and it is displayed with (No Def):

Select the (No Def) texture and the vertices do not fit the texture:

This is my Texture_Def:

George, this appears to be the same as the first problem reported by Tom. What's happening is that due to a errant loop control (now fixed) the last texture in the combo-box, in this case the texture you are using, is listed as "NoDef". When you attempted to edit, because of the mismatch in names - one with nodef, the other without - the texture was not found.

In the absence of a texture, don't be concerned where the vertices get disp0layed.

I think you will find that if you edit your Textures_Def file to move MyTexture up from the last position, all will be well.

Don

Hi Don,

I moved the daggett texture up one spot. After that it worked perfectly.

Hope this helps,

Hi Don,

Re Texture_Def, I need to remove the last entry since it is no longer used. Will this cause problems with (No Def)?

Yes, leave it. If you remove it, then the next texture up the list will become No Def and fubar. Leave it as a placeholder for now. That's what I'm doing.

Like Tom said. But only temporarily. It will be fixed in today's release.

Tom, re your strange displays last night, I'm at a complete loss to explain what happened in the last two shots.

In the second last (the stretched texture) I suppose it's possible that was some unintended manifestation of the assigned texture not being found and a new one assigned. But, unless you can reproduce it at will, I could chase it for weeks. Instead, what I'm going to do is intercept the situation where an assigned texture is not available for edit and do something "safe".

In the final shot, I can only suggest you experienced some sort of Windows "event" - in which case that same "event" may have been responsible for the second last shot as well. The texture is displayed by a DrawImage command. That command simply specifies the image and where it is to be displayed. Nowhere in the GP Editor code does the image get inverted.

Unless someone provides me with a repeatable test case, I'm going to just leave it as "one of those things".

Don

Hi Don,

It doesn't seem to happen with a valid texture name in the listing, so don't worry about it.

I have found a different problem, though. Using 1.60.4891 and 0.0.49

1. Create or Edit a GP Line with at least 2 segments (i.e. at least 3 vertices). Texture it using the PatternedLines 40F texture (I used the double red line style).

2. Zoom in with the mouse scroll wheel until the horizontal scroll bar appears.

4. Drag the scroll bar all the way to the left. This error box appears:

attachment.php

then ADE quits.

The vertical scroll bar is fine, as is dragging the horizontal scroll bar to the right.

Hope this helps,

I've seen this before, Tom, and thought I had fixed it. Perhaps it's a "rounding error. It's back on my list
