• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

This version is a significant update on 0.45. Please Note that it is a Full Release so please install it in a new folder and then copy your settings.ini and airportList.dat into it. These should work fine with this version. The following new and updated functions are available

New

  • UNDO/REDO ADE has unlimited undo/redo capability. This can be accessed either from the Edit menu or by using the short cut keys Ctrl-Z and Ctrl-U. Undo/Redo should be available for adding, deleting, moving and editing most elements of the airport. Redo is available until you do something new. So you can delete a number of elements, undo the deletions and then redo them again. However if you add, delete, drag or edit something then the redo list is cleared at that point although you can continue to undo things. It either or both menu items are greyed out then it means that there is nothing available to undo or redo. Note that if there is nothing in the undo stack Ctrl-Z will have no effect and if there is nothing in the redo stack then Ctrl-U will be ignored. While you should be able to add, delete and edit elements like aprons, edge lights and fences, undo/redo is currently not available for actions involving individual vertexes. However this should be available in later versions.
  • SAVE WARNINGS If you have unsaved changes either when loading a new airport or exiting the program ADE should warn you. If you chosse to save then you will need to go to the main save menu options
  • SAVE AIRPORT AS (File Menu) ADE now offers an opportunity to save the bgl file under another name and in another location
  • UPDATED FILE HANDLING The limitation that meant most files being saved and loaded from a fixed location has been removed. Airport can now be saved to the folder of your choice (use Save Airport As to change the folder). At the same time ADE should remember the last folder used and will use it as the default for saving and loading. Future versions will have a most recently used list.
  • TRANSFER TO FSX (File Menu) ADE will not automatically transfer or save to your Addon Scenery Folder (unless you choose to set this as the working folder, and that is clearly not to be recommended. By selecting the Transfer to FSX menu option you should be able to select a Bgl file and then transfer it to a suitable folder in FSX.
  • SAVE IMAGES (File Menu) ADE can now save image files of your display. This is based on the 'camera view' so what is saved to the image file is actually what you have on the main display. You can thus zoom, rotate or move the airport until you have the picture you wish to save. To set up the way ADE saves image files go to Settings > Options and select the Image Tab. From there select the format that you wish to save the image in. The choices are Bmp, Gif,Jpg,Png and Wmf.
  • PRINTING (File Menu) In the same way that you can save an image of the current display it can also be printed. Set it up by zooming, panning and rotating until you have what you want and then select Print from the File Menu (or Ctrl-P). you should get a print dialog and from there set up your printer to print a hard copy of the display. If you have a pdf printer driver then you could print to a pdf file.
  • DRAWING PARKING LINKS In previous version you neede to craw a link from a taxipoint TO a parking spot to make a parking link. now it can be done in either direction and ADE should correctly draw the link from taxipoint to parking spot. Note if you try to join to parking spots ADE will ignore that.

Fixed
  • White space appearing in file name
  • Problems with limit hold rings that did not work correctly for newly added hold short nodes
  • Fixed parking spot not updating on change

Changed
  • ADE now strips all Approach and Waypoint data from incoming Files. This means that ADE generated files will not contain any waypoint or Approach data and cannot therefore corrupt this. This data should be handled elsewhere
  • Check for Updates temporarily disabled. This will be re-enabled later in the development cycle
  • Display Compiler output only on error. Simple Message Box for successful compile
  • Actions for edit and delete are now carried out on the selected element not necessarily the one under the mouse. Note that some actions such as adding taxi points into taxipaths will act on the element under the mose (that is the one whose name is shown in the tooltip)
