• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Another Texture Problem

I haven't used the computer since yesterday and made a new 'Office Block' OK with FSDSv3 the texture I used is attached. Hope you are sorting things out now? This a DTX No Alpha file of your bricks file. It is zipped of course as it is a bmp. I think I sent you this one didn't I?

Ive seen so many versions of this file latley getting harder to keep up , lol.

Wow, we've got a pretty nice thread going here on our second page all because of some bricks.........

I did do a defrag and still no such luck with solving. May next run scan disk
and see if there are any problems. and as mentioned in another post Im gonna
reinstall FSDS3 all together and see if that helps. If nothing works Im going to abandon the bricks all together and use wood or metal, or hey just may get a good coat of paint slapped on the old building. :scratchch :banghead:

like we say down here........."lets have a "ceviche and a beer" before we do all that!!!!! and keep plugging!!!

Note: "Ceviche"...Raw fish cooked in lemon jiuce, onions and hot peppers..:p :p :p

Ok well Ive done everyting I can possibly think of including the the advice
of others and still no good. I have defragged, scanned disk, moved textures to FSDS3 folder, went to reinstall FSDS3 all together and it offered me the option to repair so I chose that one. The end result was.................................................Are you ready for this ? ...............................................................The exact same.
I can not for the life of me get this simple texture to show up in FS. The only thing that I havent done and may do tonight or this weekend is run my virus scan just to see if it was possible that a virus could cause all this trouble.
Also will do sweep for spyware while Im at it.

So here is my next question for all you "brain surgeons" on here".:p Does anyone here happen to have a good dark brick texture ? That you know
works in FSDS and FS9.

I had no problem with any texture not working until this particaular texture
came along. (makes wonder about the virus theory)

BTW: Warmingham, good luck in the hospital and the surgery and hurry up and get your tail back here soon we need you.........:)

Just had a thought and maybe someone here can answer . This stupid brick texture we keep talking about was originally a texture file with a different name and had windows and doors. I removed the windows and doors and then saved it as new texture with a different name. I ran it through DXT.
Could changing the name be causing this problem ? I saved in psp under the
"save as " . The original texture still works. (one with windows and doors)

Hi Mike, Hope Superman3 was Ok! Yes that could be it but not the renaming. You must have changed something else - the format/no. of bits etc - I don't really know all about this stuff but try going back to your original texture and put it through DXTBmp. Double Click on the pic and arrange it with the MSPaint Program there is with DXT and not PSP. You could always use PSp of course through DXT - just change the default paint program in one of the menus at the top. Needless to say I had the same old problem tonight with some textures I downloaded through Google - here is the link for one of the pages - http://www.beldenbrick.com/onlinecat/colors.asp?color1=browns&color2=blacks
I ended up with a grey rectangle with only one side showing the bricks texture. So I did what I told you to do and that is to chnage all the textures except one with other brick textures - it worked! Then I went back and put back the original brick texture I wanted and that worked! Miracle! Thanks to you and solid for your Good Wishes and kind words - I appreciate them very much.

Warmingham,

As soon as I get home will try that again. I got to checking and there was some other textures that I had edited and done almost the same thing too and they worked so Im assuming that I did something wrong.

Hey man all will be well dont forget to PM me as soon as you are out and about so ill know you got home and doing ok.

Mike

BTW: I dont recall if superman 3 was any good or not been many years but Spiderman 3 (that I saw last night):p was really good. Like usuall not as good as the first.

Could be "Texturitis Hiptus" a not too common desease with textures????....but again!!!! Warmingham detected it!!!!!!!!!..........we shall call this fellow as soon he is out of the hospital..
Sir Sherlock Warmingham!!!!!!------yes sir.

Gentlemen...............The old Wizard is back!!!!!!!!!!!! in good Shape.....

Welcome Sir Sherlock Warmingham!!!!!!!!:wizard:

I haven't the foggiest idea if this pertains, but one friend told me when making a gabled roof in FSDS... in top view make sure the peak of the roof is verticle in view otherwise strange things can happen. I have no idea if this is true all the time, some of the time, or never of the time. :)

Someone write a program.... "Transporter.exe ver. 1.02" Then we could all pop over to each others' houses and help each other out! ...... Naaaaah! Bob
