• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

This is probably a result of the .NET framework version i have:

Most of the time i launch the program it either stops working at 'Loading Settings' or when it does load it crashes when i try to insert something.

here are the reports for both of them

I do have .NET 2.0, but i know it was included with the operating system and i know it has been upgraded to '.NET 2.0.50727.312'

Is this the root of the problem?

I have tried reinstalling ADE but to no avail

Can anyone offer any help?

Thanks in advance, sorry for the large post.

I think we saw a problem along these lines about six to nine months ago but I cannot recall what the solution was. Please get the update to version 1.35 from AVSIM and run that. It should upgrade the 1.20 installation. Please let us know if that helps.

Results of Update

Unfortunately it has not worked

I have been unable so far to duplicate the later crash but the earlier problem persists

This report is probably the same but oh well;

The load splash freezes and becomes windowed (same as before, sorry for not reporting in earlier post) and the title becomes 'frmSplash'

I have yet to restart the computer after updating, i will do so after this is posted.

I'm sorry but I have no idea what to suggest.

Jan,

Not sure if this will shed any news on your problem, but please run the "Airport Design Editor Environment Test Tool" from the ADE program group and check if it reports any error.

I think all the elements are in place to run ADE however there may be something related to your system that interacts and causes the problem. I seem to recall problems in the past that relate to fire walls and anti virus software. If you are inclined you might remove or disable as many running programs as possible including system tray programs and see if you can load ADE.

I did a quick lookup in Google for "Description A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows. Problem signature". Hits over hits, and all related to different programs from Firefox over Photoshop to AntiVirus Software. It looks like this is a problem not related to ADE specifically. I am still at work and can't follow this up, but maybe it gives you a start.

Disabling

I have been so far (again) unsuccessful in loading ADE even after disabling anti-virus software, sidebar and system tray applets. Any further suggestions?

It does look on the surface to be some kind of conflict with your system. It looks like your OS is RTM Vista, and that you have not installed SP1. If that is true, you might consider installing SP1 for Vista. Worth a shot, anyway. I have Vista and seem to run ADE OK. You may need to find some utilites that can help straighten out your system if you suspect problems. There are several free ones that work well.

I think I did not say this the right way, Jan666. I did not mean that you AV software is the reason for the error. Many users see the same error message you have reported. And all these users get the error trying to start different software: some Photoshop, some Word2007, some NOD-Antvirus.

My suspicion is that there is something wrong with the system, which happens quite often - so most like an incompatibility introduced by having or missing some Microsoft fix.

If Bob is right that you don't have SP1 installed I would support this as the first troubleshooting step.

Sp1

I can't seem to get the update to initiate from direct download. The windows update website keeps encountering an error citing in the error information that i'm missing part of an important update. The only solution fails to work, so i don't know what to do

From what i know, the faulting module is part of the .NET 2.0 package, but the application settings crash is still a mystery

.NET service

I found the problem. It was that the .NET service was not activated on the services list. I started it and ran ADE. This time it loaded. Unfortunately the service keeps stopping and stopping even without my input. Do you have anything to suggest?

.NET service

The service i started is the wrong one, it only will affect anything if a .NET program fails
