• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Approache mode - question

Hi Simmers,

I did an approach file for LEPA airport ILS RWY 06L. But no AI aircraft did follow the transition I made. I am not sure if it´s in general possible, that AI traffic is able to follow such custom made routes ?!

Right now, there is a second transition added vid NDB ADX ( not shown in the picture ), with only one waypoint to the IAF.

But no Aircraft is following one of this transitions ?! Can someone explain me why ? I´am using P3D V2.5.

Second question: Is it normal, when I open the approche mode, that the approaches are not listed in the right upper window ? They only appear, when I select them via the menu "Lists" .

As far as I know AI traffic follows pre-programmed routes and approaches can be used only by User Aircraft

Sorry, Jon, but I do not think that is the case. As an example I could refer to the 'curved approach' that Jim Vile and others have some threads on and that go for AI as well. I do not know whether that applies to back courses, but I think it does as well. Guess Jim will step in here, I hope.
And yes, it is normal you do not see the approaches straight away.
But if you want Jim or somebody else to look at what could be wrong, you would have to upload your ad4 file. But wait for an answer until he has woken up:).

thanx so far, I will wait :-)

Jim should be awake Roby ;) - he and I are in the same time zone and it is lunchtime here

Hello Pepe

AI Traffic will not follow any transition. AI planes only use a very small part of the total approach record (XML) that is in the Header data of the R06L:ILS. As per the picture click on the R06L:ILS and it will turn a light blue. The AI and ATC data is in the approach record at the bottom.

The R06L:ILS data is were we set the heading for the curved approach. We fool the AI plane into thinking the runway is on the heading it is flying toward the airport. At the last moment the AI Plane will turn and align with the actual runway heading.

If there is no ILS approach code for a given airport then AI will use a hard coded approach for the final approach to the runway.

oha, we posted nearly at the same time :-) .... OK, I understand ... too bad, that transitions are not really working :-( ... That would be a nice feature. But I guess it would be dream ... hmmm ....

One small thing, I had in my LEPA scenery the taxi signs from the stock airport. After putting in exclusions, they were still alive. After deleting them from the stock, they were gone. Is it possible, that this happend, when you save the objects in a different bgl ? I unchecked it right now.

When you load the stock airport ADE places exclusions for every single taxi sign. There is no need to add any exclusions.

I do not split compile and keep all airport and scenery in the same bgl. Maybe someone else has the answer.

The most likely explanation is more than one addon bgl file containing the signs. If you have the latest Release Candidate version of ADE it contains a new featuer called the File Priority Analyzer which show the order of file loading for an airport. This article describes file priority in FS: https://scruffyduck.screenstepslive.com/s/help_docs/m/20268/l/199760-priority-matters If you split compile then you will have signs in one file and the airport in another. I suppose it might be possible somehow to leave the bgl file behind especially if you changed the name of the compiled file. However the FPA should find that. Splitting the compile of scenery and airport was introduced mostly at the request of some developers who have their own objects. I agree with Jim that in general this should not be used nor necessary.

Hi Scruffyduck,

thanx for your help. I switched to 1.69.xxxx.RC1 :-P

Dear All,

I have attached CYTZ approaches and ILS plates for RWY-08 and RWY-026.
The ADE format file is my failed attempt at creating CYTZ approaches for AI aircrafts. I hope you can suggest corrections and or adjustments to make it work in FS2004. I also want AI aircrafts on touch and go , to turn left after taking off from RW 026 and right after taking off from RWY08 as in real life. Thank you.
