• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Attatching objects In MCX using model hierarchy editor bug/issues

So im trying to replace some winglets on a model,

Ive attathced my new winglets in the correct spot but as the model has wing flex I need to attatch them using the model hierarchy.

So i find the part of the wing closest to my new winglets and drag the new part down the model hierarchy untill it attatches to where i want it.
The problem is that when i do this the new winglets then change psoition and randomly ends up far away from where i need them placed.

I have a friend who has the same problem as me so i have no idea what to do to fix this.
Any help would be great cheers

So you can see in pic 1 i have selected the new part and its where i want it
In pic 2 is the part i want to attatch it to
in 3 is where the new part ends up after attatching via the model hierarchy

Hi,

You best put the winglet part in the origin and then move it to the right parent node in the hierarchy. It will then take the offsets of the parent. And afterwards you can fine tune the placement with local transforms.

If they are not too far away you could edit the Transformation section in the Hierarchy Editor (right click the word Transformation/Edit Transformation).

If they are far away,I think you need to move the new winglet parts to the origin (0,0,0). You can Import them and use the technique above to do that. Then Export them again (or you can do this in your 3D CAD program if you are creating these objects). Then Merge them (they will be at the 0,0,0 point of the plane) and drag them to the correct node in the Hierarchy Editor. They may jump to the wingtips. If they don't, you 'll need to rework their origin point again until they end up on the wingtips. Once they are close, you can edit the Transformation of the winglets in the Hierarchy Editor to move them into place.
