Hi,

The title says it all. When I try to open the autogen editor to edit the default.xml it instantly crashes.

Does anybody have an idea why that might happen?

My OS is win7 x64 in case that helps.

Hi,

I'm not sure you can edit the default.xml file with that tool as well, I thought it was meant for the other autogen configuration files (the spb ones).

I tried to follow the steps from the tutorial in the sdk documentation. It says library objects are added to the default.xml through the autogen editor.
One should be careful not to use Autogen Configuration Editor instead.

But as long as the tool doesn't even run properly it's not the first problem.
Could that have something to do with a wrong entry in a config or a folder setting restricting access?

The FSX version of the tool has issues. I suggest using the P3D SDK version as that one was fixed and works just fine.

Manually. The best way to go.
You could always use the P3D version later for validation. It reports any errors.

I wasn't sure about the old an new guid formats until I found the guid converter in MCX. Now doing it manually is super easy :)

Thanks for the help anyway

Hi all,

I am having a similar problem. I am on step 5, under step 4, which is under "Adding a new Autogen Class" tutorial in this page: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc526979.aspx. When opening the Autogen Editor it just crashes immediately. I at least don't think that I am using the Autogen Editor to edit the default.xml, because I did that manually in a previous step of this tutorial.

This is with FSX Acceleration. PC specs are: AMD E-450 CPU @ 1.65 GHz, 4.00 GB (3.61 GB usable) RAM, AMD Radeon HD 6320 Graphics with 384 MB of memory, Windows 7 64 Bit.

I own the P3D SDK, but am hesitant to use it for this autogen because of backwards compatibility. I want my scenery project to be compatible with FSX as well as P3D. If anyone knows if the autogen will work well even in FSX when using the P3D SDK to make it, please let me know.

Thanks in advance.
