• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Batch process MSFS 2020 .gltf + texture

I use ModelConverterX 180 to convert my 3D objects for MSFS 2020 scenery. I do this in a batch process. I select .gltf as a file, and if I export the scenery, it builds the entire package with the necessary PackageSources, the appropriate modellib directory structure, file directories, and a separate texture file. However, with larger files, it takes a while because the simulator starts and builds the entire package, including modelLib.BGL.

But I get what I need: the files in the correct directories in PackageSources.

If I try to convert just the files as an object export, ModelConverterX does it without building the package and quickly packs the .bin .gltf .xml files and texture files into one directory.

Is there any way to convert a larger number of 3D files to the MSFS 2020 format, but so that the new files created are in separate folders, and the cardboards went to the texture folder, then I added them to my PackageSources project.

Best regards,
Witold

Hi,

If you want the specific package structure you need to export as a MSFS scenery package, not as a glTF file.

There is an option to disable the direct compilation of the package if you don't want that.

Yes, I found it easily in older versions, but in newer versions the options tab has changed and I can't find it anymore.

Best regards,
Witold

In the new version the options have indeed moved, they are now closer to where you need them. So the idea is that during export you can easily set the relevant options. Like Gary said you find it on the export scenery dialog now.

But good to read it is working now.

The other good news IIUC, is that in recent MCX DevRel builds, Arno coded MCX' Options so they internally switch to a configuration specific to the current task for output, after we have selected the FS export format target. :wizard:

Some MCX Options we saw in prior MCX builds now are hidden, if they are not pertinent to a current selected FS export format target. ;)
