• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Bell 429 Project

Hello lads!

I recently purchased FSDS V3.5.1 and all books related. So, I decided to build from scratch the Bell 429! I think it's fair enough to give you something from my own, after enjoying so much with your models (THANK YOU ALL!!!).

Also, I purchased a set of 3 views to get the work done (expensive 13 euros... and after a few days I found them for free in the web ???) I have spend almost 3 weeks reading and here we go with the first impressions.

The first attempt with the fuselage:

Now, the nacelle, horizontal stabilizer and fuselage together (I am not very happy with this result):

And now, I'm stuck here:

I have created a template (starting from the right side view) and I have as result this annoying polygon issue. I have tried everything (flipping, deleting, creating this part again and again from a cylinder, making a "new" poly by the point method; you name it!). To any kind soul, is there a hint on how to deal with this problem?

In advance, thank you.
Sergio.

P.S. I posted this in the wrong place... I "flew" directly the first FSDS entry that I found and now I am aware that this could be done under Aircraft Design/Modeling. I'm sorry. If you can lend me a hand to change this, this will very appreciated.

Hi,

You use a cylinder (tube) to make the stabilizer. OK. On the default tube there is always one end with polygon and one without.

On the default tube all the points are around a circle. You put one or more points in the interior of the "circle" but the "end" polygon still remain. That is what you see.

You have to delete this polygon and build new polygons on both tube ends, point by point. Here an exemple.

Hope I am clear (I am not totally bilingual...).

To delete polygons:

1. Select the part in question
2. Go into Polygon Mode
3. Press N until the unneeded polygon is highlighted.
4. Press Delete.

Hope this helps,

Hello

I think this is a very weird issue, because I did the horizontal stabilizer in the same way and I found zero problems there. I am trying to do it from a new project with only the backdrop images and the same result. Extrange indeed...

I have located the polygon with the wrong shape and I tried to delete it. After this, I used the point selection method to shape the new polygon with the same odd result.

The only thing I did not do, Is what Jean Pierre kindly has suggested me. I will do it and I'll keep you updated as soon as I fix the problem.
Tom, also to you thank you very much.

Regards.
Sergio.

Creating polygon with all points of your part will always redo the bug.

Other way : create an "half stabilizer" then copy/paste/invert/merge it to complete!

Problem solved!

That part needs some refinements; but I got now a new approach on how to work with the technical basis you've gave me and thanks to Jordan Moore for his kinldy help as well (and all other friends here and Hovercontrol). Now those annoying polygons won't appear, all gone!

Thank you all!
Sergio.
