• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

BGL editing feature

Hi Arno,

I was doing some scenery placement today and realized that there's no way to delete a file from the BGL library having several of them there.

Would be a nice feature to implement into MDCX.

Also, is there any chance for MDCX to retrive the placement coords from a single BGL file when I load it into MDCX? Of course, provided those coordinates were written in there first hand.

Regards,
Mike

Hi Mike,

I am not sure what you mean with "to delete a file from the BGL library having several of them there". Can you explain what you mean?

It is on my todo list to make sure that the placement information is read correctly from BGLComp BGL files.

I believe he means to be able to delete an MDL object from a BGL library file. I assume that can be done in Library Creator XML, at this point.

If you have the XML source, library creator XML can do do indeed. In future versions the tool will be able to read the library bgl directly as well.

But if you want to remove an object, it is better to remove the placement of course.

Arno, what I meant was the ability to delete a part of BGL library provided it consists of several files.

It would be nice to see that feature in the MDCX.

Got you about your to-do list. I look forward to seeing that feature implemented!

Also, any chance you could introduce some BGL precision positioning tool to place the BGLs correctly in FSX when using photo terrain?

Hi,

It is in my plans to make the Library Creator XML tool more flexible, so that it can load and edit BGL library files. I think that would meet your request.

Also, any chance you could introduce some BGL precision positioning tool to place the BGLs correctly in FSX when using photo terrain?

It's somewhere on my dream-list :). In ModelConverterX can you already place objects on a map view. I have some ideas to turn that into a more general object placement function. But it doesn't have the highest prio at the moment.
