• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 Blender question.

Could also happen that you inserted a LocRotScale keyframe somewhere. Maybe MakeMDL doesn't tolerate any scale animation at all. Try redoing the animation, inserting only LocRot keys.

Have you scaled (resized) any of the gear parts after they have been animated? I don't know about Blender but in Gmax after any scale transformation of animated parts a "reset scale" operation has to be performed on these parts.

I will have to take a look again at my model and the animation keys. it is possible that I animated a part and then realized that I had not applied the scale yet.

Hi,

You apparently changed the scale of an object, even not while animating. This results in a resized part, but the "scale" value is no longer 1. All animated parts in FS9 must have a scale of 1.0. In GMAX you choose the part and select Reset Scale from the Heirarchy tab on the right side. I don't know how to do it in Blender, but that's probably what's needed.

Ok, so I remodeled the entire aircraft. Made sure every part had a scale of 1. No animations. If I export using the direct x exporter that blender comes with and I don't have export animations checked, no problems. If I check mark the export animations option, even with no animations created, I get the found scale animations error. I am royally confused. I saved a copy of the animation free model and tried a simple animation of the landing gear using just rotate keyframes. Got the error. Tried using locrot keyframes, got the error. tried using a combination, got the error. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Hi redtail!

I do not use FS2009, so I can not help you with your specific problem. But I can tell you what I do, when I have a animation problem. I will start I new Blender file. I will add a cube as the aircraft, then I will add another cube as the object I want to animate. I keep the objects as simple a possible, so that I can eliminate as many variables as possible. I then export and create the .mdl file and test in FSX.

Usually by following these steps I find my problem and the fix my main project.

I am sorry that I can not be more help, but with out using FS2009 I do not know what else to tell you.

I hope this helps!

I'm quite interested in this! You're using the in-built .X exporter, with B2.71?

I'll give it a try myself now.

I am not at my computer right now, but I know I had export animations checked. I don't remember what else. What options did you check?

I made sure I had the options selected that you indicated in the screenshot but I still get the same error. Would it be possible for me to send you the source files and see if you get the same errors that I get?

Hi!

Well, I'm rather busy myself (RL), so I likely won't get the change to check your work properly. You may send it, but I can't promise things, I'm sorry.

Maybe some other Blenderer around here?
