• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Bridges over streams

I have some small streams that cross over some of my road links. I want to create a "bridge" or something that will go "over" these small streams. the roads work fine, but it just looks "unreal" because the water just stops at the road and continues on the other side. I want to actually go "over" the streams not through them. I can't just raise the level of the road links, nor can I just lower the level of the streams, I tried both of those, neither work. I have a bridge I created a long time ago with Gmax, but because the roads aren't perfectly straight, I can't line it up correctly because it is just a straight bridge. The roads in question are also connected to parking links so just removing the roads and putting the bridge in its place is not an option because that would leave an open link. I thought about just removing the parking links and removing the roads and putting in the bridges at those areas. but that is a lot of work that I really don't want to do unless I absolutely have to. there are about 6 or so of these "cross-overs". I need an easy and simple solution, if there is none, then it's option two mentioned above.

YIKES!! Didn't think it would be that complicated. I think I will go with my original idea to just use a bridge with a platform over the streams, then remove the roads under the bridge, (this also involves removing the vehicle link and the parking spot) , then just use a close-by parking spot to start the "flight" with my vehicle at the parking location, then just move the "aircraft" uh, vehicle, to the spot I want to start from. It's a lot of work, but probably be the easiest way. It's going to mean removing any parking spots and links that go over water, but it's a lot easier than all of the information you just showed me, whew!

Ok, now, never mind all of that. I have another question that should be easier to answer with a yes or no. I want to move my project to another location, but not by actually moving it, I will be creating a completely new one in another location. Here is my question, I have a lot of 'custom' models in my current project, I would like to "move" all of those projects to the new location where I am building the new project. Can this be done? All I want to do is transfer all of my custom models to the new project, that's all I want to do. I don't want to have to add all of those models one by one to the new project, I will be using a lot if not all of them in the new project. Is there some kind of file I can edit or what? Is there a function in ADE that will 'compile' all of the listed models that I can just transfer to the new location? I will be moving the current project to a mountainous desert location and won't be using any modifications to the natural land, I will just use locations that are suitable for habitation.

Anyone have any sugestions as to a good mountainous desert location I could use. I need a location without a lot of vegetation and I will need some flat valleys to build in. I will have 1 small airstrip in each location that can only support small aviation type aircraft. the main airport will support large jet commertial aircraft. I will be adding my own custom vegetation and water ponds and lakes. I want somewhere I don't have to modify the natural landscape too much, but since I will be using Photoreal scenery, I also don't want too much natural vegetation to contend with or work around when placing my PR Scenery. It can be anywhere in the natural world, but preferably on land and not over water since that is a whole different ballgame to play in. Anyone have any sugestions let me know. Our home base will be at Area 51 in Nevada, so the location needs to be accessible by regular air travel. It can be further but I would have to use the custom 'spaceplane" aircraft that flies at 30,000ft or above at MACH 4. And since I will be using FSpassengers to do all flights, it costs fuel to fly that plane and the cost is way too much for normal passengers to purchase tickets. So I would prefer someplace reachable by normal airlines. I'm trying to take my current "finished" project and put it in a real-world situation instead of a "fantasy" situation. I've done about all I can do to this project so I am officially calling it completed for implementation into the real world.

I do want to take a short minute to thank GaryGB for helping me get started out in custom design, I still have a lot to learn, but he helped me get started in the right places. the rest I can learn on my own now. I just needed that little "push" to get going. Thanks Gary, you have been a big help.

Oh yeah, forgot one thing, when posting a sugestion please include coordinates.

What format are your current objects in? What program do you use to place them at your current airport? Do you use them as MDL files or as library BGL files?

Does FSPassengers require use of a real world airport with default- or properly configured IRL- Approach code ?

If so, be aware that Approach code for an edited default FS airport may require editing to accommodate certain edits made to it.

If not, you can pick any location to create a fictional airport in the wasteland near Area51 and move the airport using ADE or FSXPlanner.

If ADE is used, the caveat will be that MDLs must all be imported to ADE Library Object Manager and placed via an ADE *.AD4 project.

FSXPlanner can move any airport; but IIRC, may only move objects found in *.OBX BGLs that are airport-related, not all 'general' scenery.

Yes passengers does use real world IRLs i had some trouble with that but got it to work by editting my IRLs coordinates. They were off a few degrees. The program is no longer supported so I have to edit the files myself. All of my objects are mdl files only about 6 of them are library bgl files. I found me a location for the new airport. It's about 350 miles to the north west of where the old one is. The alt is pretty much the same so moving the airport there should be easy enough. But I want to completely change the layout. That's why I wanted to keep all of my current mdl and library objects because I will need to use them in the new one. I am not going to use any flatten background because I want to keep the original textures and land as it is there are plenty of flat areas there all ready to use. I just have to add the photo real scenery and other stuff.
