• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS Can't build project using "package tool for steam"

I have done some light editing of a stock airport KGRR and am trying to build the project. I am using the steam version of MSFS and seem to have all the folder targets correct. Supplied by steam and use package tool for steam is checked. When I click "build project" a window pops up saying that it will take some time, nothing comes up after that. I was patient and have waited for more than 5 minutes. Help please.

While I was reading some other peoples issues and replies, that prompted me to update the SDK version. I'm still getting an error which I will try to work out but at least the black prompt window opens up. Hope this helps others who run into the same issue. DOWNLOAD LATEST SDK! :)

Guys, with the Steam version the SDK doesn’t really make a difference which version but of course you should use the latest. When you click build, Steam will start FS in the background and ALWAYS prompt you to confirm that ADE started the Steam version of FS. It’s a Steam window that will be in the task bar or behind everything and you must click OK. Steam then appears to close and restarts FS (invisibly) and the build occurs. It completes when the window appears with the results and press ok to continue.
Hope this helps

But you don't need to do this if you tick the box to use the Steam package in the options.

It's at the bottom of the Options dialog and this should be used since the later SDKs fixed the issue with Steam and the Package Tool

Yes sorry - Unticked and you receive the STEAM prompt and ticked, it just builds.
