• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

hello. i have been have some minor problems with ADE. it's a great program but whats the point of useing it when it doesn't work?. I read the manual and it said to put the folder in the FSX SDK folder but i can't find it. it also said i need SP1,2 or acceleration. but i already have acceleration. why doesn't it work?

Have you installed the SDK? Do you have the SDK, it is supplied only with the FSX Deluxe version?

No point at all :) Let's see if we can get it working for you

I read the manual and it said to put the folder in the FSX SDK folder but i can't find it. it also said i need SP1,2 or acceleration. but i already have acceleration. why doesn't it work?

OK First have you installed the FSX SDK? You will know if you have. It does not install automatically when you install FSX or the Acceleration Pack. You need to get the DVD and look on it for the SDK Folder. Run the file called sdk.msi or similar, I think you can install the one straight from the Accel Pack without having to install the one from the deLuxe Edition DVD first.

Second you need to tell ADE where the SDK is and where the Bgl Compiler is - that is the software that actually makes the scenery bgl files. If ADE does not know where it is then it cannot make a scenery file. To do this I would strongly suggest running the New User Wizard again in ADE Click the Tools menu item and then New User Wizard. The second page is called Paths and Databases. In the first box you click the small button next to the yellow box and navigate to the BglComp folder in the SDK. If you installed the SDK using the default installation then it is going to be

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\BGL Compiler SDK

Also make sure that ADE knows where FSX is by filling using the button next to the second box to navigate to that. Again if you did a default install then it will be

C:\program files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X

Next make sure to click the Scan button and let ADE create some databases of information that it needs. Finish the other tabs if you need to and then close the Wizard. Close and restart ADE and it should be set up.

ok i installed the sdk and compiled the airport but the parking and gates are the same as the default ones. y

Sorry but you need to tell us a bit more. First are you saying that ADE is now creating a compiled Bgl? If you are still seeing the default parking set up then maybe FSX has not yet recognized your new bgl file. Can you tell me where you compiled the new bgl file to? Also you need to do this when FSX is not running. After compiling when you start FSX you should see a progress window telling you that the scenery database is being updated - did you see that? if not then FSX has not recognized your new file and will use the default one when displaying the airport

ok yes now ade is compiling the airports. but like i said the gates that are new don't appear in the screen to choose were to fly from. like i can't really explain it any better. i just can't select the places I installed. there is no more information except that a service bar doesn't show up.

there thats the best i could do for an explanation

Brandon,

After ADE has compiled the BGL and you start FSX, do you see a something saying about a scenery index being rebuild?

Something that you usually don't see when starting FSX?

When you compiled the .ade to a bgl a window appeared asking you where do you want the bgl to go. If you do not place it into the ....FSX Addon Scenery\scenery folder then you will have to find where you did place the compiled bgl and manually copy the bgl to the correct FSX folder.

Try compiling to your desktop
so when you click on compile Airport a window pops up
(where is that widow directing the BGL to now) you could try,
in this window, direct the XXXX_ADE_BP to your desktop (BP i take will be your initials)
then when the compiler runs you should see your BGL file on your desktop, if you get that far you can then drag/cut and paste to MS/FSX/addon scenery/scenery folder, we need to know if the compiler is working, you say it is compiling

There are many airports in FSX that are modeled differently then in previous versions of FSX.

At the present time ADE V1.05 cannot enhance these airports until we work with adding some additional code.

CYYZ is just one out of many that will cause Main Terminals and additional buildings to disappear if you save your work and compile.

There are several post that are presently addressing this problem and post in the past that explains what causes it. The links are as follows.

Jon tells us that the next version of ADE will have this sorted out

The tower object problem is fixed and will be in the next release
