• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

compile bgl failed many errors

I am working on an airport I've already modified with AFX. I thought I might exclude or delete the apron pathway to a parking area and also delete the parking area along with its characteristics... i.e. fuel, thereby getting rid of a default refueling area.

compile errors about some kind of vertex and boundary fences (which I have none in this airport). Also- there were warnings about a vor not matching airport's alt... same with some start points.

I went back to AFX and corrected these and saved. Back to FSX Planner- repeated above process... same errors as stated above.

did clean up - nothing changed.

In prepare options- unchecked everything... bingo- compile successful. Into addon scenery\scenery it went.
Went to airport- everything is gone except taxiway signs and a few items.

BUT- that default fuel station with its overhang is still there and I can still refuel at that location!

Deleted the compiled bgl file. Everything came back. I.e. back to square one or ground zero, or drawing board, depending on your metaphor! (Lance has permission to laugh - I'm probably missing something very simple.) Bob

I'm not that familiar with AFX, but I believe it doesn't use bglcomp to create the bgl file. This might have something to do with the problems. Maybe not though - just a guess.

If you unchecked everything in the prepare options dialog then nothing would actually get compiled. So that would solve the errors issue, but would create an empty bgl file which is why the airport would be blank with the sim.

Perhaps you could post some of the errors?

This is only for FSX Planner:
Installing the SDK
The SDK is installed off of the "first DVD" of the [FSX] simulator installation DVDs. Note, that it is only included on the Deluxe edition. After inserting the DVD into your drive, you will need to cancel the installation process, and then right click on your DVD drive icon and choose Explore. Once the window is displayed for the DVD, open the SDK window and run the setup file located in there.

Once you have finished the SDK installation, you will need tomake sure you have the latest update to the SDK. At the time of this writing the latest update is Service Pack 1A, or SP1A. This can be downloaded from www.fsinsider.com. After downloading and installing the update you will be ready to compile your airport into a BGL file.

I had many compile errors until I installed and then updated the SDK.

It might help if we could see the compiler error list or you can attach the xml to a post here so that we can take a closer look
