• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v5 Converting taxiways to runways

I have two AFCADs with this problem, and have not seen anything in the ADE help or by searching on here on how to do this.

I am a rank amateur when it comes to working ADE, and maybe I did not search correctly.

The AFCADs are VHHH and RPVM, and if necessary I can post them here.

With VHHH the airport will load and I can fly from 07L/25R and 07R/25L, the problem is that 07C/25C is marked as a taxiway. This one is being discussed in an AIG forum.

With RPVM P3D will CTD just as the airport finishes loading with an exception code of C0000005 in g2d.dll, the infamous memory access violation. There is only one runway, marked in ADE as Taxiway, Type=Runway. I found this just today at flightsim.com.

Edit: sorry, I found RPVM on Simviation...

You must have a real runway (the rectangle, not just a black runway line) to create a valid airport. That may be the reason for the crash.

To add a runway you right click on the spot, choose Add.../Runway, and enter the proper information. Once created you can drag it into the proper location. A runway will cover an ADE taxiway, but most people convert the blue taxiway line to a black runway line - required for AI aircraft to use that new runway. Click the taxiway link, right click and choose Edit Object (?), and use the drop down box at the top to change it. Don't forget to change the name to the runway designator.

Many thanks for the tip. I kinda suspected that a runway issue was causing the crash.

I have never done something like this before, so this will be the trial-and-error method, and probably be a couple of days before I report back.

It was indeed the "missing runway" that caused the crash. And it was much easier than I initially thought: total time to a working RPVM airport, including learning time, was about 40 minutes. The biggest pain was figuring out how to get the newly-defined runway turned to the right direction!

Many thanks for the help -

Jorgen
