• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Coordinate Converter Error!

Hey Everyone! I'm using a tutorial on these forums to create ground poly for an airport i'm working on.

One of the steps require you to get the flat earth coordinates using the coordinate converter, but after entering my coordinates i'm getting an error. Any ideas? Cheers!

Hi,

It seems that the flat earth coordinates are too big for the field they are put it. Because your secondary point is still 0,0 the resulting coordinates are quite big. I think I need to increase the maximum value that is allowed, since you entered a valid position in the world.

Yep, I'm afraid that's all you can do for now, since you found a bug in the tool. I think you are just the first one to work so far from the 0,0 point (with a longitude of 175 degrees). I'll try to fix it tonight if I have time.

It might work if you first change the second reference point to a position in the middle of 0,0 and your position. Maybe the value then stays below the current limit. But I'm not sure about that.

I'll test it, many thanks! I will wait until you release a quick update, please let me know.
Your hard work is appreciated!

Hi,

I can't reproduce the issue here, but only now I see you are using the old version 1.3. Can you try the development release (version 1.4)?

Alright, so yes no error message, silly me! But still not getting flat earth coordinates when entering the coordinates?

You need to put the coordinate of the corner of the satellite image in the Secondary point (red arrow). It will show you either minus/positive value depends on which corner you put in. If you use Right Corner Coordinate, it will give you positive value.
Don't forget to put Altitude as well(star). If your airport is in high altitude, you will get wrong value.

Thanks :)
