• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi all,

For a long time FSDeveloper offers the option to specify your country in your user profile and this information is used to show a flag of the country in your profile and with your posts (* the display of the flags with the posts had been disable for a while since our last server move, but has been enabled again now). Personally I think this is a nice feature to see where all the community members come from and it might even help to understand each other a bit better, as it can be in indication of possible language barriers. But since I am a geography and history geek I might not be fully objective here, I just like flags :D. Although I would not be surprised if many scenery developers share this interest....

If you go to the account details in your user profile you can select which country you want to show. See a screenshot below from my own profile. Of course you are free as well to leave this option empty and in that case no country information is shown for your account.

This week we also got a message from a member that the list of countries to choose from was not up to date and was missing some countries. This is because we still used the list from over 15 years ago when I setup the SceneryDesign.org forum (the predecessor of FSDeveloper as it is now). For example Yugoslavia was still listed, but Serbia and Montenegro not as that split happened after we made the list. So today I also went over the list and added the new countries that are been formed over the last years.
 
For me this setting is in Your Account/Account Details.

Note that for those in the US there is an option to use your state flag instead. Mine is showing the California "Bear Flag Republic" flag (us-california).
 
Yes, for US, UK and (if I remember correctly Canada we also have flags for the state level).

It's a great way to learn some of these flags as well :)
 
I think it's a nice addition, i like it.
Seeing where we are all from is quite interesting, at least for me it is.
 
Note also you can hold your mouse over a person's flag and the name of the country will appear in a tool tip.
 
Yes, turn the flag on the fridge upside down when the apartment is in trouble. :)
