• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Downloader Failure

Lance

Do you have a file called ADEDownloader, exe in your ADE Application Folder?

Jon,

Same problem here, and I do have ADEdownloader.exe in my main ADE folder (Airport Design Editor).

OK I put a post up with the direct link so you can get the update now. Can you tell me exactly at which point the error occurs. Also wouls one of you be kind enough to post the log file ade_200807.log?

thanks

OK let me understand this - Is this happening with version 1.30 or 1.35? From the log it looks like it is version 1.30. Are you getting or not getting the dialog which tells you that you an update is available?

The log is telling me that ADE cannot find the downloader although it is in the application folder.

Are y'all using Vista or some XP and some Vista. This could possibly be some sort of lock or permissions stopping ADE from starting the downloader.

From 1.30 - I get the dialog that says an update is available.

I am using XP - SP3

I have now downloaded and installed 1.35 from the direct link.

...and when you click Yes to take the update you get the error.

I have just looked at the source code and I can see one possible reason but not a very likely one. I will make some extra changes in the code but it will not get in until the next version so you may well find that the on-line update will not work for you. It will tell you that there is an update but you may have to get it manually. We always post copies of the installers on AVSIM and Flightsim in case people have problems with the on-line updater.

If I may I will ask some of you who have had a fail on this to test the new code before we go live on it.

downloaded but won't install

Jon,
My download went OK, but it won't install. The destination shown in the 'settings' dialogue is blank, although it identified that I had version 1.30 previously.

Congrats on the MVP, you certainly deserve it!

Thanks Charlie

So let me understand. You have the update executable - that downloaded OK but when it started it gave this error?

Have you tried running it again from Explorer?

No problems with downloader

Hi Jon,

I have just downloaded and installed the 1.35 patch, all automatically from 1.3 startup. I have auto check for updates enabled and ADE is in the default c:\msfs\... directory.

Thank you again for the update.

Arthur

Thanks for letting us know Arthur. Seems like this is a problem related to user computer settings or some such....

Charlie

This looks like the installer can't find the registry entry for ADE - How was 1.20 installed?

Charlie,

Can you please run the "Airport Design Editor Environment Test Tool" and tell us the results. If you see no obvious error messages, please post the generated error log.

What version have you running, by the way?

Thank you.

Version

Jon,
Not 100% sure but I think that 1.20 was as a full download.

Martin,
Where is the "Airport Design Editor Environment Test Tool"? not in my folders and only reference found is in the 1.22 patch.

I have run a registry check and ade did not appear as an issue. It may well be easier if I do a full reinstall, although if you are like me a mystery (problem) must be resolved just for the challenge!

Cheers all!

1.20 is the full download. Everything after that is a patch.

What is your current working version?
