• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Duplicate VOR/ILS

I'm trying to change the runways at EGCC to 05/23. I've changed the runway names, but when I compile it it says there are duplicate ILS (I made new ILS for the 05/23 L/R) and won't compile.

Why can't I delete the stock ILS systems?

SO irritating.

Cheers

Because FSX does not allow us to delete stock navaids - there is no way to do it. You can move them, delete the Glide slops and DME but not actually delete them. If you rename a runway in ADE 1.22 it will rename all the elements such as ILS and Starts. Do you need to create a new one?

Adding to what Jon has already posted

It is not a good idea to change runway numbers. It can be done but you must be able to rewrite all the approach code in order to realign the vectors to final and associate the approach to the new runway numbers.

You also say the compiler says you have duplicate ILS's. This occurs if by chance you are trying to change a runway number in ADE that is not a stock airport.

Many User's find an existing airport that someone else designed with AFX and then try to rework the airport with ADE. This will not work because of the way AFX add's duplicate User ILS's runways.

If you only care about flying the User plane into EGCC (no ATC or AI Plane Traffic) then open the Stock Airport with ADE and renumber the runways. ADE will handle all the coding and a proper compile will occur.
