• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Editing the Models File

A few months ago, my SDD C:\ drive crashed leaving me only with a large conventional D:\ drive. I've re-installed W7 and set up the drive as a single c:\ and re-installed everything. It's working fine.

The problem is that I have been asked to remove a model from one of the scenery .bgls I produced with ADE before the crash. I have all the work backed up, but the paths to the 134 custom models in the model index all point to the old D:\ drive. ADE can't now find them.

I can work through each of the 134 entries and browse to the new C:\ locations but that takes about 2 minutes per entry because of the need to browse to the new location each time, but more significantly I have to click through 133 error reports every time I do it.

I could create a new D:\ drive on my PC but I really don't want to mess with the configuration. Is there another fast way of changing the paths to the models please?

Unfortunately there is no bulk way to do it - although that would probably be a good idea. I think I reduced the error messaging in the current beta.

A slightly faster way would probably be to use the Raw Data View that is available if you have a ProKey. This would let you edit the path for each model more quickly.

If you don't have a ProKey (since it is payware) then there is a 15 day trial available. That should give you time to change the paths without having to purchase a license.

The ProKey can be downloaded from www.airportdesigneditor.co.uk

Thanks Jon, that did the job in 20 minutes.

I've just purchased ProKey. That will be useful if I have to do the same thing with any of my other pre-crash designs.

A simple bulk path changer though would be useful though, particularly for users buying a new PC with a different drive configuration.

I am pleased that it worked. I will look at a bulk path change mechanism.

Thanks for buying the ProKey :-)
