Hello all,

Arno thanks for creating such a great tool. As you can see from my screenshots, my cell tower works fine except the flashing light that is supposed to be on top (fx_beacon) never appears in the game. Any ideas?
It does show when I import the .mdl or .bgl back into Model Conv X.

Is that really night time? (i.e. selecting Night from the Time and Season menu) - looks like Dusk or Dawn to me, which AFAIK you do not have turned on, only Night=1.

Hope this helps,

Thanks Tom, yes the screenshot was taken in dusk to show that the tower is exported just fine, but without the light. When set to day or night there is no blinking light at the top of the tower. I will double check tonight however. Thanks.

Don't should be included the four periods, day-dusk-night-dawn, I am only asking, still have not clear at all the effect activation. sometimes work sometimes not

Hi,

I just did a quick test and I added the same effect to one of my objects. It shows fine. The only difference I made is that I did not add a condition to show only at night. So maybe you can try without that condition first.

Normally if you want to control the visibility you need to place the effect twice. Once with DAY/NIGHT condition and once with DUSK/DAWN condition.

Arno,

I started over from scratch with no day/night parameters but the light effect fails to show. Could it be due to the location of my effect folder? I used the wizard to import, place on map and export but no light appears. When I re-import the .bgl into Conv X I see the effect.

Hi,

Do you maybe have an exclude active in the same area? In FS2004 that often gave trouble, not sure if that is still the case in FSX as well.

Hello Arno, unfortunately the exclude isn't the problem. There isn't one, tried 2different areas of the world and still no flashing beacon. I am out of ideas at this point. I have great looking objects in my scenery without lights :)

Hi,

As a last resort, perhaps if you move your effect a tiny little bit so that it is just outside your object, then maybe it shows up?

Robystar, have tried that with no results :(
What could it mean that the model and effect show when imported back into Model Conv X? This means the .bgl or .mdl are exported correctly, but the effects fail to show in FSX?

Well everyone, I got it to work!! As mentioned in a previous thread, I have to put the effect texture into my texture folder for the .bgl. I know this is a workaround but I'm very pleased now!

That's weird, I have never heard of that solution. Where is your effect? In the standard effects folder?
