• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v1 Engine Feathering - Reentry into coding

Hey All. I haven't been coding for a few years, real life flying and jobs. I have a situation: A sim which does not have a keyboard, or mapped key commands for a keyboard, and can not use FSUIPC must be able to feather the prop on a multi-engine recip. There are no buttons available to press physically so anything done has to be software driven. The sim uses a throttle quadrant but no buttons are on it. This sounds like a riddle but this is what I have to work with.

My idea was to use a gauge to test for feathering conditions of:
Prop Handle 30% or less and prop feather = 0, the reverse also has to occur to unfeather the prop. Here is my attempt. I am pretty sure I am mis-using the K variable here. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Code:
<Gauge Name="TESTFEATHER" Version="0.1">
<Size X="00" Y="00"/>
<Gauge>
<Element>
  <Select>
    <Value>
		(A:PROPELLER_1_FEATHERED,bool) 0 ==
		(A:RECIP_ENGINE1_PROP_LEVER_POS,enum) 0.3 &lt; &amp;&amp;
			if{
				1(&gt;K:KEY_TOGGLE_FEATHER_SWITCH_1)
			}

		(A:PROPELLER_2_FEATHERED,bool) 0 ==
		(A:RECIP_ENGINE2_PROP_LEVER_POS,enum) 0.3 &lt; &amp;&amp;
			if{
				1(&gt;K:KEY_TOGGLE_FEATHER_SWITCH_2)
			}

		(A:PROPELLER_1_FEATHERED,bool) 1 ==
		(A:RECIP_ENGINE1_PROP_LEVER_POS,enum) 0.3 &gt; &amp;&amp;
			if{
				0(&gt;K:KEY_TOGGLE_FEATHER_SWITCH_1)
			}
		(A:PROPELLER_2_FEATHERED,bool) 1 ==
		(A:RECIP_ENGINE2_PROP_LEVER_POS,enum) 0.3 &gt; &amp;&amp;
			if{
				0(&gt;K:KEY_TOGGLE_FEATHER_SWITCH_2)
			}
    </Value>
  </Select>
</Element>
</Gauge>

And Bill, if you see this: Thanks for all the help in the past, those conversations on the forum were really helpful.

FSX? Try these and see if you get the expected results:
Code:
(A:PROP FEATHERED:1, bool)

(A:GENERAL ENG PROPELLER LEVER POSITION:1, percent)

1 (>K:TOGGLE_FEATHER_SWITCH_1)

(A:PROP FEATHERED:2, bool)

(A:GENERAL ENG PROPELLER LEVER POSITION:2, percent)

1 (>K:TOGGLE_FEATHER_SWITCH_2)

One other point, TOGGLE state may not settable by 1 or 0 ... that is, it's just a toggle and you probably don't need to assign it a value. (>K:TOGGLE_FEATHER_SWITCH_2) and it's "on", (>K:TOGGLE_FEATHER_SWITCH_2) again and its "off".

Help this helps

Bob
