• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Export as XML airport

Hi guys,
I want to insert a custom jetway into my scenery.
How do I export the airport as XML so I can change the GUID of the object to my new jetway?
I don't see the option to do it on my ADE.
I have the latest version.

Regards,
Teo

And then do I compile the XML? Or can I open it again in ADE and compile it from there?

That is all rather messy. The easiest way does need a ProKey but you can download it for a 15 day trial. You can then use the Raw Data View to access the properties (XML) directly and change the GUID for jetways

  1. Select the Jet way
  2. Change the GUID making sure the format is correct (the RDV does no checking)
  3. The GUID is now in the XML

Well if you have a ProKey (That is what is paid for in ADE) then you will find the Raw Data View in the Tools Menu. Find the jetways(s) you want to change in the RDV tree and make your changes. Clicking Close saves the changes. Then try to compile and see if things work ;)

If you change the guid of the default animated jetway through the RDV with a different guid then the jetway may not show up in the scenery.

If you have made a custom jetway then it should be installed as a model so the guid knows which new jetway to call. You must also add the textures that your new custom jetway uses.

Ok changed the GUID and compiled.
I see the new jetway but it doesn't move.
Will do some more testing and let you know.
Thanks guys!

Ok I did all of this but when I change the GUID and compile the jetway is not appearing in the scenery.
If I add it as a static object it does show.
If I add the default jetway and change the GUID to our object and compile nothing appears. The jetway has its texture and everything.
The object is in the library before I change the GUID.
What could be happening?

u can change the name and guid with model converter x, it supports animation but i havnt tried that yet. not sure if that helps just given 2 cents.

This is the problem I am having. I don't know how to install it as a model. Your help would be very much appreciated
