• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MCX open- choose a library. Export scenery. I export to a chosen folder. go to folder..... nothing is there. error in event log- parse error failed to compile. did I do something wrong. i have the latest version Bob

Hi bob,

Can you show me the exact error? It should tell us what is wrong.

Arno- These are libraries I made with IS2 library maker. Objects I made with FSDS. Have not had this problem before. Maybe I should try with a library Not of my own.

I tried to decompile a library of mine and it did so. Hoever it would not recompile back to a bgl. compile helper says this is a bgl that is not supported...

Same bgl I tried to export using 'export scenery'.

wonder how I lost that! Which one do I need? the cab or just the msi? Note- I use win 7 operating system.

I pick the MSI file usually.

Would be weird that you have lost it indeed, but that's what the error says...

Installed the msi. said there was an error- no changes made. I then with the msi download removed the old msxml parser3. It did so. Installed again. This time it seemed togo well. then with MCX I tried the esport scenery again... same error message. The link you gave said this was for xpo , vista, etc. nothing said about Win 7, but I assumed Win 7 is simiilar to vista in many respects. Bob

Hi Bob,

If I click on the link here it also mentions Windows 7.

Maybe you can try to run bglcomp manually and see if that works? It would be weird that the tool just stops working.

i se it now. yes Win 7. I vaguely remember defraging a while ago, butg I don't think that wold do anything. I'll keep trying things.

Tried a small library of mine. I can idsassemble it with newbglanalyze but cannot reassemble it. compiler helper says - unsupported file type. Often I get this message after decompiling with Newbgl anaylzer.

Even with latest update in MCX and the recent install of msxml.msi and reboot, still no go on export scenery. Event log says same thing, but notice it says bglcommp instead of bglcomp. an extra M in the message. bob

That extra m is my typo, but that doesn't matter for the functioning.

Did you try to compile a XML file with bglcomp manually to see if it works in that case?

I tried one but it did not work. Most of the time when I dcompile something with newbglanalyze or another one it decompiles but won't recompile.

I'll try a small utility that I know works but that is for starting off with an xml then compiling.

A few weeks ago I tried to do 'esport scenery' in MCX and it worked. Now it doesn't.

Are we thinking that perhaps my bglcomp is not working right? I use Acceleration and the SDK. Bob

Hi bob,

Yes, I am indeed thinking your bglcomp has a problem, that's what the error says. But you also say it worked before, so something must have changed in between.

Years ago, Opa Marshall gaves us a little utility... rotating Beacon. I've used it many times with great success. it came with its own copy of bglcomp and accompanying files.

It now does not work either. There is something happening that will not allow bglcomp to work on my machine.

FSDS uses bglcomp path for scenery development and it works. I'll double check.

I tried the rotating beacon inside the small utility and also copied and directly used bglcomp in my sdk.... didn't work there either.

Just checked FSDS for creating a bgl. MDL works but bgl does not. So there is something going on here. I'm thinking .... inside the box. (bad pun) Bob

I'll give it a try when I am behind my pc later on. But if the problem is msxml then it is not a problem with bglcomp, but with your computer setup.

Arnp- Yes- This is why I sent it. If my bglcommp is ok, then it is something else. I fear that there is somethingn that comtrols or allows bglcomp to work on a computer. If this is the case then It's time to take it to the shop. bob

I just compiled a bgl in SBuilderX for photoreal. It worked. Isn't SbuilderX configured to use bglcoomp in my FSX SDK?

Yet I can't complie 'export Scenery' in MCX or in other apps. Called my computer store nearby. They don't know either. Bob
